Use Custom UIApplication Subclass with SwiftUI
I have a SwiftUI app which needs the Ivanti AppConnect SDK. The docs only show how to integrate it into a Swift/UIKit app. But I need it to work with SwiftUI. I probably could make a UIKit base app and then load my existing SwiftUI views and code through a SwiftUI component host or something. But I'd like to avoid that if possible. Here is where I'm stuck: The AppConnect framework loads through a custom UIApplication subclass in the main.swift file: import Foundation import AppConnect UIApplicationMain( CommandLine.argc, CommandLine.unsafeArgv, ACUIApplicationClassName, NSStringFromClass(AppDelegate.self) ) The startup works as expected, and the expected function is called in the AppDelegate class: func application( _ application: UIApplication, didFinishLaunchingWithOptions launchOptions: [UIApplication.LaunchOptionsKey : Any]? = nil) -> Bool {...} However, the SwiftUI view is not loaded and the scree stays blank. I implemented a SceneDelegate.swift class which doesn't seem to be called. Also, the following function in the AppDelegate doesn't get called either: func application( _ application: UIApplication, configurationForConnecting connectingSceneSession: UISceneSession, options: UIScene.ConnectionOptions) -> UISceneConfiguration {...} So how do I bootstrap SwiftUI with a custom UIApplication class? can that be done with the @main macro somehow? How to Enable or Customize Undo/Redo Menu Items on iPadOS Menu Bar in SwiftUI? (Xcode 26 beta 4, iPadOS 26 beta 4) We’re working on adding menu bar support to our SwiftUI app on iPadOS, aiming to provide a more consistent and productive experience across platforms. Our app is a unified iPad/macOS app that uses UndoManager to support undo/redo operations. However, we’ve run into the following issues: On macOS, undo and redo work as expected via the menu bar. On iPadOS, the Undo and Redo menu items are always disabled, even though the functionality works within the app. We also explored the possibility of hiding the system-generated Undo/Redo menu items so we could provide custom implementations—but couldn’t find a way to remove or override them. Lack of API to access scrubber preview time in AVPlayerViewController (scrubbingTime)
Hi everyone, I'm working with AVPlayerViewController in a tvOS/iOS app and ran into a limitation that I believe some developers face. When using player.currentItem?.currentTime(), we only get the playback time—which is fine while the video is playing. But when the player is paused and the user drags the scrubber, there's no public API to get the time that is currently being previewed under the scrubber thumb (stick), but there's no way to read it programmatically. This becomes a problem when trying to show thumbnail previews or display metadata tied to the scrubbed position.

NavigationSplitView content column renders list in plain style – even on iPhone
Hi everyone, I’m building an iOS app that originally targeted iPhone using NavigationStack. Now I’m adapting it for iPad and switched to using NavigationSplitView to support a three-column layout. The structure looks like this: NavigationSplitView { A // Sidebar } content: { B // Middle column – this shows a list } detail: { C // Detail view } The issue is with the list shown in view B (the content column). It appears completely unstyled, as if it’s using .listStyle(.plain) — with no background material, no grouped sections, and a very flat look. I can understand that this might be intentional on iPad to visually distinguish the three columns. However, the problem is that this same unstyled list also appears on iPhone, even though iPhone only shows a single column view at a time! I tried explicitly setting .listStyle(.insetGrouped) or .listStyle(.grouped) on the list in view B, but it makes no difference. When I go back to NavigationStack, the list in B is styled properly, just as expected — but then I lose the enhanced iPad layout. What I’m looking for: I’d like to keep using NavigationSplitView, but I want the list in the content column (view B) to use the default iOS list styling, at least on iPhone. Is there any way to achieve this? Thanks!

tabBarMinimizeBehavior not working if subview has TabView with .tabViewStyle(.page)
We are using a TabView as the TabBarController in our app for main navigation. On one of the tabs we have a view that consists of a TabView with .tabViewStyle(.page) in order to scroll horizontally between pages inside of that specific tab. The .tabBarMinimizeBehavior(.onScrollDown) works on all the other TabItem views, but for this one it does not recognise any vertical scrolling in any of the pages, in order to minimize the TabBar. I believe this is a bug? If we don't wrap the views inside the TabView with .page style, we are able to get the expected behaviour using the tabBarMinimizeBehavior. Please let us know if this is going to be fixed in a future iOS 26 beta release.

iOS 17 Bug? Adding a .sheet to a .fullscreencover makes background opaque
I am working on creating a custom Popup View based on a .fullscreenCover. The .fullscreenCover is used to place the Popup content on screen on a semi-transparent background. While this works on iOS 18, there is a problem on iOS 17: When the Popup content contains a .sheet, the background is not transparent any more but opaque. Image: iOS 17. When showing the Popup an opaque background covers the main content. When tapping on the background it turns transparent. Image: iOS 18. Everything works as intended. When showing the Popup the main background is covered with a semi-transparent background. Removing the .sheet(...) from the Popup content solves the problem. It does not matter if the sheet is used or not. Adding it to the view code is enough to trigger the problem. Using a .sheet within a .fullscreenCover should not be a problem as far as I know. Is this a bug in iOS 17 or is there something wrong with my code? iOS26: Programmatically Minimize TabView
In our app we have a view with a custom scroll implementation in a TabView. We would like to programmatically minimize (not hide) the TabView, like .tabBarMinimizeBehavior(...) does when a List is behind the tab bar and a user scrolls. I haven't found any view modifier that I can attach that allows me to do so, is this not possible? I would have expected something like .tabBarMinimized($tabBarMinimized)

View lifecycle in Tabview
In TabView, when I open a view in a Tab, and I switch to another Tab, but the View lifecycle of the view in the old Tab is still not over, and the threads of some functions are still in the background. I want to completely end the View lifecycle of the View in the previously opened tab when switching Tab. How can I do it? Thank you!

Scroll offset incorrectly resets when animating insertion of ScrollView using .geometryGroup()
Hey, I've been having a problem with scroll views in combination with the .geometryGroup() modifier. I have filed a Feedback (FB17698293) but I also wanted to post this here in case someone maybe has a better workaround for the problem. Problem Whenever you conditionally insert a ScrollView inside a VStack that is modified with a .geometryGroup() modifier, the scroll view content offset resets itself after the insertion animation is done, even if you started scrolling inside the scroll view during the animation and haven't let go of the screen. This happens consistently and is fully reproducible (see below), both using a simulator and a real device. Unfortunately, this is a very annoying glitch that ruins a lot of cool UX components that rely on .geometryGroup(). The weird thing is that the glitch entirely disappears, if you add a simple, non-zero (but greater than 1) .padding() modifier to the VStack (.padding().geometryGroup()). I have no idea why this fixes the glitch, but it does. However, adding a padding is not feasible in many situations, so this workaround is not ideal. Steps to reproduce Launch the code below (using a simulator or a real device) and tap "Toggle Expansion" to insert the scroll view. As the view is animating in, drag the scroll content and hold it scrolled away from the top. Wait for the animation to complete. The scroll view will reset the content offset, even though the drag gesture is still active (i.e. you haven't lifted your finger to release the scroll view) On a real device, this sometimes even leads to an even worse visual artifact where the scroll view is rendered twice for a few frames; once with the correct offset, and once with the reset offset. I wanted to include a link to a gif/video showing the glitch, but it tells me that imgur is not allowed on the forums. Expected Behavior I want the scroll view to respect the content offset, even if I started changing it mid-animation. Xcode Version I am using Xcode 16.4 (16F6) but this problem has been occurring since the .geometryGroup() modifier has been release. I was only now able to pinpoint this problem exactly, so I'm filing this feedback. Disable Hit Testing on SwiftUI Map Annotation Content
Hi, I’m using SwiftUI’s Map with custom Annotation content and trying to make the annotation view ignore touch interactions—similar to applying .allowsHitTesting(false) on regular views. The goal is to ensure that map gestures such as long press and drag are not blocked by annotation content. However, setting .allowsHitTesting(false) on the annotation content doesn’t seem to have any effect. Is there any workaround or supported approach to allow the map to receive gestures even when they originate from annotation views? Thanks in advance for any guidance!

Child Views and ViewThatFits
I'd like to support different template views within a ViewThatFits for items within a list, allowing the list to optimize its layout for different devices. Within the child views is a Text view that is bound to the name of an item. I'd rather the Text view simply truncate the text as necessary although it instead is influencing which view is chosen by ViewThatFits. I'd also rather not artificially set the maxWidth of the Text view as it artificially limits the width on devices where it's not necessary (e.g. iPad Pro vs. iPad mini or iPhone). Any guidance or suggestions on how this can be accomplished as it looks very odd for the layout of one row in the list to be quite different than the rest of the rows.

iOS 26: .tabViewBottomAccessory - How to open a new view on the tabViewBottomAccessory
If you are currently on the beta of iOS 26, open Apple Music and you'll see a tabViewBottomAccessory that is the mini NowPlayingView. When tapped, it opens the NowPlayingView. Is there a similar way to do this in SwiftUI? Looking through Apple's documentation, they do not specify any way to reproduce the same kind of view transition. This is the Apple Music app with the tabViewBottomAccessory. When clicked it opens the NowPlayingView

In my SwiftUI iOS app, I use the following code int the app init to scale navigation titles: //Set large fonts in nav titles to size down if too long. //Otherwise get "Some Really Really Long..." //Maintains animation transition from page title to header UILabel.appearance(whenContainedInInstancesOf: [UINavigationBar.self]).adjustsFontSizeToFitWidth = true Titles are set in the standard way: .navigationTitle(“Title") .navigationBarTitleDisplayMode(.large) When built for iOS 26, and the titles are not scaled (in the simulator, at least). Is there another way to scale the titles that iOS 26 respects? Is this a temporary bug or due to an underlying framework change?

PKPass Framework
I am trying to work with the data inside the barcode string in shared PKPass. The documentation shows that is should look for @property (nonatomic, readonly, nullable) PKBarcode *primaryBarcode; I have tried to use it like this guard let code = pass.primaryBarcode?.message else { return } I get a constant message that PKPass has no member primaryBarcode The PKPass.h file in my IOS SDK does not seem to include the @property primaryBarcode or @property barcode. I am running Xcode 16.4 (16F6) and my app target is 17.6 + Is there a restriction on this property? I cannot find an SDK later than mine - the App Store does not offer one. I am unsure of this is a public or private issue - does anyone know? Thanks for reading this. Max

[Want] A View detects one from multiple Gestures.
SwiftUI Gesture cannot detect one of multiple gestures. I made a library for it because one of my apps needs it. library: https://github.com/Saw-000/SwiftUI-DetectGestureUtil I think the function like this library maybe is needed in the core, and can be used with "import SwiftUI", isn't it?

It does not matter if the sheet is used or not. Adding it to the view code is enough to trigger the problem. Using a .sheet within a .fullscreenCover should not be a problem as far as I know. iOS26: Programmatically Minimize TabView
In our app we have a view with a custom scroll implementation in a TabView. We would like to programmatically minimize (not hide) the TabView, like .tabBarMinimizeBehavior(...) does when a List is behind the tab bar and a user scrolls. I haven't found any view modifier that I can attach that allows me to do so, is this not possible? I would have expected something like .tabBarMinimized($tabBarMinimized)

View lifecycle in Tabview
In TabView, when I open a view in a Tab, and I switch to another Tab, but the View lifecycle of the view in the old Tab is still not over, and the threads of some functions are still in the background. I want to completely end the View lifecycle of the View in the previously opened tab when switching Tab. How can I do it? Thank you!

Bottom toolbar inside a modal Sheet
Although it doesn't seem to be a forbidden practice, placing toolbar items in the bottom bar of a modal Sheet (which has its own NavigationStack) triggers massive layout warnings. The same thing occurs when using the .searchable(...) view modifier inside a Sheet (which affects the bottom bar too). LayoutWarning.txt

Scroll offset incorrectly resets when animating insertion of ScrollView using .geometryGroup()
Hey, I've been having a problem with scroll views in combination with the .geometryGroup() modifier. I have filed a Feedback (FB17698293) but I also wanted to post this here in case someone maybe has a better workaround for the problem. Problem Whenever you conditionally insert a ScrollView inside a VStack that is modified with a .geometryGroup() modifier, the scroll view content offset resets itself after the insertion animation is done, even if you started scrolling inside the scroll view during the animation and haven't let go of the screen. This happens consistently and is fully reproducible (see below), both using a simulator and a real device. Unfortunately, this is a very annoying glitch that ruins a lot of cool UX components that rely on .geometryGroup(). The weird thing is that the glitch entirely disappears, if you add a simple, non-zero (but greater than 1) .padding() modifier to the VStack (.padding().geometryGroup()). I have no idea why this fixes the glitch, but it does. However, adding a padding is not feasible in many situations, so this workaround is not ideal. Steps to reproduce Launch the code below (using a simulator or a real device) and tap "Toggle Expansion" to insert the scroll view. As the view is animating in, drag the scroll content and hold it scrolled away from the top. Wait for the animation to complete. The scroll view will reset the content offset, even though the drag gesture is still active (i.e. you haven't lifted your finger to release the scroll view) On a real device, this sometimes even leads to an even worse visual artifact where the scroll view is rendered twice for a few frames; once with the correct offset, and once with the reset offset. I wanted to include a link to a gif/video showing the glitch, but it tells me that imgur is not allowed on the forums. Expected Behavior I want the scroll view to respect the content offset, even if I started changing it mid-animation. Xcode Version I am using Xcode 16.4 (16F6) but this problem has been occurring since the .geometryGroup() modifier has been release. I was only now able to pinpoint this problem exactly, so I'm filing this feedback. Disable Hit Testing on SwiftUI Map Annotation Content
Hi, I’m using SwiftUI’s Map with custom Annotation content and trying to make the annotation view ignore touch interactions—similar to applying .allowsHitTesting(false) on regular views. The goal is to ensure that map gestures such as long press and drag are not blocked by annotation content. However, setting .allowsHitTesting(false) on the annotation content doesn’t seem to have any effect. Is there any workaround or supported approach to allow the map to receive gestures even when they originate from annotation views? Thanks in advance for any guidance!

Child Views and ViewThatFits
I'd like to support different template views within a ViewThatFits for items within a list, allowing the list to optimize its layout for different devices. Within the child views is a Text view that is bound to the name of an item. I'd rather the Text view simply truncate the text as necessary although it instead is influencing which view is chosen by ViewThatFits. I'd also rather not artificially set the maxWidth of the Text view as it artificially limits the width on devices where it's not necessary (e.g. iPad Pro vs. iPad mini or iPhone). Any guidance or suggestions on how this can be accomplished as it looks very odd for the layout of one row in the list to be quite different than the rest of the rows.

iOS 26: .tabViewBottomAccessory - How to open a new view on the tabViewBottomAccessory
If you are currently on the beta of iOS 26, open Apple Music and you'll see a tabViewBottomAccessory that is the mini NowPlayingView. When tapped, it opens the NowPlayingView. Is there a similar way to do this in SwiftUI? Looking through Apple's documentation, they do not specify any way to reproduce the same kind of view transition. This is the Apple Music app with the tabViewBottomAccessory. When clicked it opens the NowPlayingView

iOS26/SwiftUI long navigation titles?
In my SwiftUI iOS app, I use the following code int the app init to scale navigation titles: //Set large fonts in nav titles to size down if too long. //Otherwise get "Some Really Really Long..." //Maintains animation transition from page title to header UILabel.appearance(whenContainedInInstancesOf: [UINavigationBar.self]).adjustsFontSizeToFitWidth = true Titles are set in the standard way: .navigationTitle(“Title") .navigationBarTitleDisplayMode(.large) When built for iOS 26, and the titles are not scaled (in the simulator, at least). Is there another way to scale the titles that iOS 26 respects? Is this a temporary bug or due to an underlying framework change?

PKPass Framework
I am trying to work with the data inside the barcode string in shared PKPass. The documentation shows that is should look for @property (nonatomic, readonly, nullable) PKBarcode *primaryBarcode; I have tried to use it like this guard let code = pass.primaryBarcode?.message else { return } I get a constant message that PKPass has no member primaryBarcode The PKPass.h file in my IOS SDK does not seem to include the @property primaryBarcode or @property barcode. I am running Xcode 16.4 (16F6) and my app target is 17.6 + Is there a restriction on this property? I cannot find an SDK later than mine - the App Store does not offer one. I am unsure of this is a public or private issue - does anyone know? Thanks for reading this. Max

[Want] A View detects one from multiple Gestures.
SwiftUI Gesture cannot detect one of multiple gestures. I made a library for it because one of my apps needs it. library: https://github.com/Saw-000/SwiftUI-DetectGestureUtil I think the function like this library maybe is needed in the core, and can be used with "import SwiftUI", isn't it?

Swift Playground Canvas Interaction Not Working
I am currently do the 'Keep Going with Apps' book in Playground. When I open the book on my iPad and MacBook, the canvas interaction does not work. I have tried restarting and reinstalling the book as well. I am on the latest OS and everything else is up to date as far as I can tell.
