A Summary of the WWDC25 Group Lab - UI Frameworks
At WWDC25 we launched a new type of Lab event for the developer community - Group Labs. A Group Lab is a panel Q&A designed for a large audience of developers. Group Labs are a unique opportunity for the community to submit questions directly to a panel of Apple engineers and designers. Here are the highlights from the WWDC25 Group Lab for UI Frameworks. How would you recommend developers start adopting the new design? Start by focusing on the foundational structural elements of your application, working from the "top down" or "bottom up" based on your application's hierarchy. These structural changes, like edge-to-edge content and updated navigation and controls, often require corresponding code modifications. As a first step, recompile your application with the new SDK to see what updates are automatically applied, especially if you've been using standard controls. Then, carefully analyze where the new design elements can be applied to your UI, paying particular attention to custom controls or UI that could benefit from a refresh. Address the large structural items first then focus on smaller details is recommended. Will we need to migrate our UI code to Swift and SwiftUI to adopt the new design? No, you will not need to migrate your UI code to Swift and SwiftUI to adopt the new design. The UI frameworks fully support the new design, allowing you to migrate your app with as little effort as possible, especially if you've been using standard controls. The goal is to make it easy to adopt the new design, regardless of your current UI framework, to achieve a cohesive look across the operating system. What was the reason for choosing Liquid Glass over frosted glass, as used in visionOS? The choice of Liquid Glass was driven by the desire to bring content to life. The see-through nature of Liquid Glass enhances this effect. The appearance of Liquid Glass adapts based on its size; larger glass elements look more frosted, which aligns with the design of visionOS, where everything feels larger and benefits from the frosted look. What are best practices for apps that use customized navigation bars? The new design emphasizes behavior and transitions as much as static appearance. Consider whether you truly need a custom navigation bar, or if the system-provided controls can meet your needs. Explore new APIs for subtitles and custom views in navigation bars, designed to support common use cases. If you still require a custom solution, ensure you're respecting safe areas using APIs like SwiftUI's safeAreaInset. When working with Liquid Glass, group related buttons in shared containers to maintain design consistency. Finally, mark glass containers as interactive. For branding, instead of coloring the navigation bar directly, consider incorporating branding colors into the content area behind the Liquid Glass controls. This creates a dynamic effect where the color is visible through the glass and moves with the content as the user scrolls. I want to know why new UI Framework APIs aren’t backward compatible, specifically in SwiftUI? It leads to code with lots of if-else statements. Existing APIs have been updated to work with the new design where possible, ensuring that apps using those APIs will adopt the new design and function on both older and newer operating systems. However, new APIs often depend on deep integration across the framework and graphics stack, making backward compatibility impractical. When using these new APIs, it's important to consider how they fit within the context of the latest OS. The use of if-else statements allows you to maintain compatibility with older systems while taking full advantage of the new APIs and design features on newer systems. If you are using new APIs, it likely means you are implementing something very specific to the new design language. Using conditional code allows you to intentionally create different code paths for the new design versus older operating systems. Prefer to use if #available where appropriate to intentionally adopt new design elements. Are there any Liquid Glass materials in iOS or macOS that are only available as part of dedicated components? Or are all those materials available through new UIKit and AppKit views? Yes, some variations of the Liquid Glass material are exclusively available through dedicated components like sliders, segmented controls, and tab bars. However, the "regular" and "clear" glass materials should satisfy most application requirements. If you encounter situations where these options are insufficient, please file feedback. If I were to create an app today, how should I design it to make it future proof using Liquid Glass? The best approach to future-proof your app is to utilize standard system controls and design your UI to align with the standard system look and feel. Using the framework-provided declarative API generally leads to easier adoption of future design changes, as you're expressing intent rather than specifying pixel-perfect visuals. Pay close attention to the design sessions offered this year, which cover the design motivation behind the Liquid Glass material and best practices for its use. Is it possible to implement your own sidebar on macOS without NSSplitViewController, but still provide the Liquid Glass appearance? While technically possible to create a custom sidebar that approximates the Liquid Glass appearance without using NSSplitViewController, it is not recommended. The system implementation of the sidebar involves significant unseen complexity, including interlayering with scroll edge effects and fullscreen behaviors. NSSplitViewController provides the necessary level of abstraction for the framework to handle these details correctly. Regarding the SceneDelagate and scene based life-cycle, I would like to confirm that AppDelegate is not going away. Also if the above is a correct understanding, is there any advice as to what should, and should not, be moved to the SceneDelegate? UIApplicationDelegate is not going away and still serves a purpose for application-level interactions with the system and managing scenes at a higher level. Move code related to your app's scene or UI into the UISceneDelegate. Remember that adopting scenes doesn't necessarily mean supporting multiple scenes; an app can be scene-based but still support only one scene. Refer to the tech note Migrating to the UIKit scene-based life cycle and the Make your UIKit app more flexible WWDC25 session for more information.

Dynamic island not displaying UI views
i finally got previews for dynamic island to work and I'm just trying to first work on adding a static UI elements to my dynamic island like i did for my live screen live activity, but my dynamic island view is showing up totally empty, if i add my app icon image to the compact leading closure, it doesn't appear, if i ad text to an expanded region closure it doesn't appear. am really stuck on this and would approeciate the help. var body: some View { Image("dynamicrep") .resizable() .scaledToFit() .clipShape(.circle) } } struct DynamicRepLiveActivity: Widget { var body: some WidgetConfiguration { ActivityConfiguration(for: DynamicRepAttributes.self) { context in VStack { HStack(spacing: 257) { Text("from \(context.attributes.titleName ?? "no title")") .fontWeight(.light) .font(.system(size: 16)) .foregroundStyle(Color.gray) Circle() .frame(width: 53, height: 50) .foregroundStyle(Color.gray).opacity(0.23) .overlay { Image("mmicon") } } .frame(maxWidth: 500, maxHeight: 210) Spacer() Text("\(context.attributes.contentBody ?? "no content")") } .activityBackgroundTint(Color.cyan) .activitySystemActionForegroundColor(Color.black) .frame(width: 500, height: 300) } dynamicIsland: { context in DynamicIsland { // Expanded UI goes here. Compose the expanded UI through // various regions, like leading/trailing/center/bottom DynamicIslandExpandedRegion(.leading) { Text("from \(context.attributes.titleName ?? "no title")") } DynamicIslandExpandedRegion(.trailing) { Circle() } DynamicIslandExpandedRegion(.bottom) { Text("\(context.attributes.contentBody ?? "no content")") } } compactLeading: { AppLogo() } compactTrailing: { Text("") //empty for now } minimal: { Text("hello") //empty for now } .widgetURL(URL(string: "MuscleMemory.KimchiLabs.com")) .keylineTint(Color.white) } } }

Double < Back Button Issue Reappears in DocumentGroup on Xcode 16.3 + iOS 18.4+
The workaround of using .toolbarRole(.automatic) in DocumentGroup to avoid the double back button no longer works on Xcode 16.3 + iOS 18.4 and above. After cross-testing, here are the results: Xcode 16.3 + iOS 18.5 = Issue present Xcode 16.3 + iOS 18.4 = Issue present Xcode 16.3 + iOS 18.3 = Successfully avoids double back button Xcode 16.2 + iOS 18.5 = Successfully avoids double back button Xcode 16.2 + iOS 18.4 = Successfully avoids double back button Xcode 16.2 + iOS 18.3 = Successfully avoids double back button

Library not loaded: /System/Library/Frameworks/SwiftUICore.framework/SwiftUICore
Hello. I'm building an iOS application that builds a framework named Design.framework using Xcode 16.1. When I launch my application on iOS 17.X, i get the following runtime error dyld[47899]: Library not loaded: /System/Library/Frameworks/SwiftUICore.framework/SwiftUICore Referenced from: <E625A246-E36B-351A-B077-CC38BAB5E07B> /Users/v/Library/Developer/Xcode/DerivedData/iScribd-bexojbdreldwkvbpzioqueldnvng/Build/Products/Debug_AppStore-iphonesimulator/Design.framework/Design Reason: tried: '/Users/v/Library/Developer/Xcode/DerivedData/iScribd-bexojbdreldwkvbpzioqueldnvng/Build/Products/Debug_AppStore-watchsimulator/SwiftUICore.framework/SwiftUICore' (no such file), '/Users/v/Library/Developer/Xcode/DerivedData/iScribd-bexojbdreldwkvbpzioqueldnvng/Build/Products/Debug_AppStore-iphonesimulator/SwiftUICore.framework/SwiftUICore' (no such file), '/Users/v/Library/Developer/Xcode/DerivedData/iScribd-bexojbdreldwkvbpzioqueldnvng/Build/Products/Debug_AppStore-watchsimulator/PackageFrameworks/SwiftUICore.framework/SwiftUICore' (no such file), '/Users/v/Library/Developer/Xcode/DerivedData/iScribd-bexojbdreldwkvbpzioqueldnvng/Build/Products/Debug_AppStore-iphonesimulator/PackageFrameworks/SwiftUICore.framework/SwiftUICore' (no such file), '/Library/Developer/CoreSimulator/Volumes/iOS_21C62/Library/Developer/CoreSimulator/Profiles/Runtimes/iOS 17.2.simruntime/Contents/Resources/RuntimeRoot/System/Library/Frameworks/SwiftUICore.framework/SwiftUICore' (no such file), '/System/Library/Frameworks/SwiftUICore.framework/SwiftUICore' (no such file, not in dyld cache), '/Library/Developer/CoreSimulator/Volumes/iOS_21C62/Library/Developer/CoreSimulator/Profiles/Runtimes/iOS 17.2.simruntime/Contents/Resources/RuntimeRoot/System/Library/Frameworks/SwiftUICore.framework/SwiftUICore' (no such file) This error does not happen on iOS 18+. And how am I supposed to handle devices prior to iOS 18 which do not have this library? is adding the linker flag the right way forward?

UIInputView not being deallocated
I am experiencing memory leaks in my iOS app that seem to be related to an issue between UIInputView and _UIInputViewContent. After using the memory graph, I'm seeing that instances of these objects aren't being deallocated properly. The UIInputViewController whichs holds the inputView is being deallocated properly along with its subviews.I have tried to remove all of UIInputViewController's subviews and their functions but the uiInputView is not being deallocated. The current setup of my app is a collectionView with multiple cell, each possessing a textfield with holds a UIInputViewController. When i scroll up or down, the views are being reused as expected and the number of UIInputViewController stays consistent with the number of textfields. However the number of inputView keeps increasing referencing solely _UIInputViewContent. class KeyboardViewController: UIInputViewController { // Callbacks var key1: ((String) -> Void)? var key2: (() -> Void)? var key3: (() -> Void)? var key4: (() -> Void)? private lazy var buttonTitles = [ ["1", "2", "3"], ["4", "5", "6"], ["7", "8", "9"] ] override func viewDidLoad() { super.viewDidLoad() setupKeyboard() } lazy var mainStackView: UIStackView = { let mainStackView = UIStackView() mainStackView.axis = .vertical mainStackView.distribution = .fillEqually mainStackView.spacing = 16 mainStackView.translatesAutoresizingMaskIntoConstraints = false return mainStackView }() private func setupKeyboard() { let keyboardView = UIView(frame:CGRect(x: 0, y: 0, width: UIScreen.main.bounds.width, height: 279.0)) keyboardView.addSubview(mainStackView) NSLayoutConstraint.activate([ mainStackView.topAnchor.constraint(equalTo: keyboardView.topAnchor, constant: 16), mainStackView.leadingAnchor.constraint(equalTo: keyboardView.leadingAnchor, constant: 0), mainStackView.trailingAnchor.constraint(equalTo: keyboardView.trailingAnchor, constant: -24), mainStackView.bottomAnchor.constraint(equalTo: keyboardView.bottomAnchor, constant: -35) ]) // Create rows for (_, _) in buttonTitles.enumerated() { let rowStackView = UIStackView() rowStackView.axis = .horizontal rowStackView.distribution = .fillEqually rowStackView.spacing = 1 // Create buttons for each row for title in rowTitles { let button = createButton(title: title) rowStackView.addArrangedSubview(button) } mainStackView.addArrangedSubview(rowStackView) } self.view = keyboardView } private func createButton(title: String) -> UIButton { switch title { ///returns a uibutton based on title } } // MARK: - Button Actions @objc private func numberTapped(_ sender: UIButton) { if let number = sender.title(for: .normal) { key1?(number) } } @objc private func key2Called() { key2?() } @objc private func key3Called() { key3?() } @objc private func key4Called() { key4?() } deinit { // Clear any strong references key1 = nil key2 = nil key3 = nil key4 = nil for subview in mainStackView.arrangedSubviews { if let stackView = subview as? UIStackView { for button in stackView.arrangedSubviews { (button as? UIButton)?.removeTarget(self, action: nil, for: .allEvents) } } } mainStackView.removeFromSuperview() } } Environment iOS 16.3 Xcode 18.3.1 Any insights would be greatly appreciated as this is causing noticeable memory growth in my app over time.

UIPasteControl Not Recognizing Tap
I have an iOS app where I'm trying to paste something previously copied to the user's UIPasteboard. I came across the UIPasteControl as an option for a user to tap to silently paste without having the prompt "Allow Paste" pop up. For some reason, despite having what seemingly is the correct configurations for the UIPasteControl, on testing a tap, nothing is called. I expected override func paste(itemProviders: [NSItemProvider]) to fire, but it does not. Any help would be appreciated as there doesn't seem to be much info anywhere regarding UIPasteControl. import UniformTypeIdentifiers class ViewController: UIViewController { private let pasteControl = UIPasteControl() override func viewDidLoad() { super.viewDidLoad() view.backgroundColor = .systemBackground pasteControl.target = self pasteConfiguration = UIPasteConfiguration(acceptableTypeIdentifiers: [ UTType.text.identifier, UTType.url.identifier, UTType.plainText.identifier ]) view.addSubview(pasteControl) pasteControl.translatesAutoresizingMaskIntoConstraints = false NSLayoutConstraint.activate([ pasteControl.centerXAnchor.constraint(equalTo: view.centerXAnchor), pasteControl.centerYAnchor.constraint(equalTo: view.centerYAnchor), ]) } } extension ViewController { override func paste(itemProviders: [NSItemProvider]) { for provider in itemProviders { if provider.hasItemConformingToTypeIdentifier(UTType.url.identifier) { provider.loadObject(ofClass: URL.self) { [weak self] reading, _ in guard let url = reading as? URL else { return } print(url) } } else if provider.hasItemConformingToTypeIdentifier(UTType.plainText.identifier) { provider.loadObject(ofClass: NSString.self) { [weak self] reading, _ in guard let nsstr = reading as? NSString else { return } let str = nsstr as String if let url = URL(string: str) { print(url) } } } } } }

Save fails after Save As
I have an app with two file types with the following extensions: gop (an exported type), sgf (an imported type). The Save command fails after the following sequence of events: I open a gop file, say the file "A.gop". I save this file as an sgf file, say "A.sgf". This Save As works perfectly and the document name in the document’s title bar has changed to "A.sgf". I change something in the document and then try to Save this change. This should just resave the document to "A.sgf", but "A.sgf" remains untouched. Instead I get a system alert with the message The document “A.sgf” could not be saved. A file with the name “A.gop” already exists. To save the file, either provide a different name, or move aside or delete the existing file, and try again. In the Xcode console I get the following diagnostic: NSFileSandboxingRequestRelatedItemExtension: an error was received from pboxd instead of a token. Domain: NSPOSIXErrorDomain, code: 2 [NSFileCoordinator itemAtURL:willMoveToURL:] could not get a sandbox extension. oldURL: file:///Users/francois/Desktop/A.sgf, newURL: file:///Users/francois/Desktop/A.gop The problem seems to relate to the sandbox. But I am at a loss to find a solution. (After closing the alert, I check that A.sgf did not register the change.) If I open an sgf file, say "B.sgf", save it as "B.gop", make a change in the document and then try to save this change (into "B.gop"), I hit the same problem, with "gop" and "sgf" interchanged. If, instead of saving "A.gop" as "A.sgf", I save it as "B.sgf", make a change in the document and then try to save this change into "B.sgf", I get the following system alert: The document “B.sgf” could not be saved. You don’t have permission. To view or change permissions, select the item in the Finder and choose File > Get Info. And in the Xcode console I get the following diagnostic: NSFileSandboxingRequestRelatedItemExtension: an error was received from pboxd instead of a token. Domain: NSPOSIXErrorDomain, code: 2 [NSFileCoordinator itemAtURL:willMoveToURL:] could not get a sandbox extension. oldURL: file:///Users/francois/Desktop/B.sgf, newURL: file:///Users/francois/Desktop/B.gop Again the sandbox ! (After closing the alert, I check that B.sgf did not register the change.) It’s clear my code is missing something, but what?

ARView rotation animation changes when coming back to it from a navigationLink
I have an app that uses RealityKit and ARKit, which includes some capturing features (to capture and image with added Entities). I have a navigationLink that allows the user to see the gallery of the images he has taken. When launching the App, the rotation animation of the ARView happens smoothly, the navigationBar transitions from one orientation to another with the ARView keeping it's orientation. However, when I go to the galeryView to see the images and go back to the root view where the ARView is, the rotation animation of the ARView changed: When transitioning from one orientation to another, the ARView is flipped by 90° before transitioning to the new orientation. The issue is shown in this gif (https://i.stack.imgur.com/IOvCx.gif) Any idea why this happens and how I could resolve it without locking the App's orientation changes? Thanks!

UIDocumentPickerViewController dismisses presenting view controller when selecting a file multiple times quickly
Description When using UIDocumentPickerViewController with allowsMultipleSelection = false, I expect that selecting a file will dismiss only the document picker. However, if a user quickly taps the same file multiple times, the picker dismisses both itself and the presenting view controller (i.e., it pops two levels from the view controller stack), which leads to unintended behavior and breaks presentation flow. Expected Behavior Only UIDocumentPickerViewController should be dismissed when a file is selected—even if the user taps quickly or multiple times on the same file. Actual Behavior When tapping the same file multiple times quickly, the picker dismisses not only itself but also the parent view controller it was presented from. Steps to Reproduce Create a simple view controller and present another one modally over it. From that presented view controller, present a UIDocumentPickerViewController with allowsMultipleSelection = false. Tap quickly on the same file in the picker 2 times. Result: Both the document picker and the presenting view controller are dismissed. Reproducible Code Snippet class ViewController: UIViewController { override func viewDidLoad() { super.viewDidLoad() view.backgroundColor = .green addLabel("Parent View Controller") DispatchQueue.main.async { [unowned self] in let child = UIViewController() child.view.backgroundColor = .yellow present(child, animated: true) child.addLabel("Child View Controller") let vc = UIDocumentPickerViewController( forOpeningContentTypes: [.pdf, .jpeg, .png], asCopy: true ) vc.allowsMultipleSelection = false child.present(vc, animated: true) } } } extension UIViewController { func addLabel(_ text: String) { let label = UILabel(frame: CGRect(x: 0, y: 50, width: view.bounds.width, height: 30)) label.text = text view.addSubview(label) } } Environment Device: iPhone 15 Pro and others iOS version: 18.2 (reproduces on multiple iOS versions) Occurs with: .pdf, .jpeg, .png file types Mode: Both simulator and real device Notes Happens consistently with fast multiple taps on the same file. This breaks expected view controller stack behavior.

How to capture the currently pressed key when a TextField is in focus?
In the attached code snippet: struct ContentView: View { @State private var vText: String = "" var body: some View { TextField("Enter text", text: Binding( get: { vText }, set: { newValue in print("Text will change to: \(newValue)") vText = newValue } )) } } I have access to the newValue of the text-field whenever the text-field content changes, but how do I detect which key was pressed? I can manually get the diff between previous state and the new value to get the last pressed char but is there a simpler way? Also this approach won't let me detect any modifier keys (such as Alt, Ctrl etc) that the user may have pressed. Is there a pure swift-ui approach to detect these key presses?

Inconsistent ornament scale
I am developing an application which make use of 2 ornaments anchored to a volumetric window, one used a toolbar and one to display different views. The problem I am facing consistently is that the ornaments seems to scale up or down after moving the volume using the OS handle or starting a GroupActivity session. This first image shows the ornaments as soon as I started the app, no dragging nor group activities: This second images shows them as soon as I join a group activity session: The map, which might seem smaller, has not been touched and has always the same scale. In this last image I had just dragged the entire volume using the OS toolbar, resulting in the ornaments scaling down: This is how the volume and the ornaments are declared: WindowGroup(id: "CityVolume") { let cityVM = CityViewModel(volumeSize: CityView.initialVolumeSize) CityView(cityVM: cityVM) .ornament(attachmentAnchor: .scene(.bottomFront)) { HStack { TourismChartsButton() LandmarksListButton() CenterMapButton() ToggleImmersiveSpaceButton() TrafficDataButton() BusLinesButton() } .padding() .offset(z: 10) .rotation3DEffect(Angle(degrees: 15), axis: (x: 1.0, y: 0.0, z: 0.0)) } .ornament(attachmentAnchor: .scene(.back)) { ZStack { if AppModel.Instance.tourismVM.isChartViewVisible { TourismChartsView() } if AppModel.Instance.busLinesVM.isDataViewEnabled { BusLineView() } } } .task(observeGroupActivity) .onAppear { appModel.cityVM = cityVM } } .windowStyle(.volumetric) .windowResizability(.contentSize) .volumeWorldAlignment(.gravityAligned) .defaultSize(CityView.initialVolumeSize, in: .meters) It happens also without starting a SharePlay session, but not as frequently as during SharePlay. Experienced the same behaviour with toolbars. Am I doing something wrong with how I created the ornaments? Am I missing something?

Arabic Text Appears Reversed and Broken in SwiftUI Lists, TextFields, and Pickers
Hello, I would like to report a critical issue with Arabic text rendering in SwiftUI apps on iOS and iPadOS. When using Arabic as the default language (Right-to-Left - RTL), Arabic text appears reversed and disconnected inside several SwiftUI components like: List Section TextField Picker Custom views (like StudentRowView) Even though the environment is set to .layoutDirection(.rightToLeft), the dynamic Arabic text is not rendered properly. Static headers display correctly, but any dynamic content (student names, notes, field titles) becomes broken and unreadable. Examples where the issue occurs: AboutView.swift → Arabic text inside List and Section SettingsView.swift → TextField placeholders and Picker options StudentRowView.swift → Student names and grade field titles Environment: SwiftUI 5 (Xcode 15+) iOS 17+ Reproducible 100% on both Simulator and real devices. Expected Behavior: Arabic text should appear properly connected, right-aligned, and readable without any manual workaround for each Text or TextField. Workarounds Tried: Manually setting .multilineTextAlignment(.trailing) (inefficient) Wrapping every Text inside an HStack with Spacer (hacky) Building custom UIKit views (defeats purpose of SwiftUI simplicity) Formal Feedback: I have submitted a Feedback Assistant report We hope this issue will be prioritized and fixed to improve SwiftUI's support for Arabic and other RTL languages. Thank you.

Replaykit stop screen record failed, recording status is false
I want to record screen ,and than when I call the method stopCaptureWithHandler:(nullable void (^)(NSError *_Nullable error))handler to stop recording and saving file. before call it,I check the value record of RPScreenRecorder sharedRecorder ,the value is false , It's weird! The screen is currently being recorded ! I wonder if the value of [RPScreenRecorder sharedRecorder].record will affect the method stopCaptureWithHandler: -(void)startCaptureScreen { [[RPScreenRecorder sharedRecorder] startCaptureWithHandler:^(CMSampleBufferRef _Nonnull sampleBuffer, RPSampleBufferType bufferType, NSError * _Nullable error) { //code } completionHandler:^(NSError * _Nullable error) { //code }]; } - (void)stopRecordingHandler { if([[RPScreenRecorder sharedRecorder] isRecording]){ // deal error .sometime isRecording is false }else { [[RPScreenRecorder sharedRecorder] stopCaptureWithHandler:^(NSError * _Nullable error) { }]; } } here are my code.

How to customize item transitions inside a Picker View?
I have a simple Picker where the options available change by the view state. I would like to have the transition animated but the default animation is not good so I tried setting a .transition() and or an .animation() inside an item on the picker but it is ignored. The same happens if the transition is set on the picker itself since it's always present. Am I doing it right and is just not posible or is there something else to do? Code to reproduce the issue: struct ContentView: View { @State var list: [String] = [ "Item 4", "Item 5", "Item 6", "Item 7", "Item 8", ] @State var selected: String? @State var toggle: Bool = false var body: some View { VStack { Picker("List", selection: $selected) { ForEach(list, id: \.self) { Text($0).tag($0) // .transition(.opacity) } } .pickerStyle(.segmented) // .transition(.opacity) HStack { Button(action: swapOptions) { Text("Swap") } } } .padding() } } extension ContentView { func swapOptions() { withAnimation { toggle.toggle() switch toggle { case true: list = [ "Item 1", "Item 2", "Item 3", "Item 4", "Item 5", ] case false: list = [ "Item 4", "Item 5", "Item 6", "Item 7", "Item 8", ] } } } } ``

Bundling OSX installer plugin with productbuild/pkgbuild
I'm trying to create a .pkg installer with productbuild/pkgbuild. But I'd also like to add my custom installer plugin to this. I'm using the following script. I'd like to add my bundle into this script. Since there are no official docs from apple how to do this nor there are a lot of updated resources, here are some things I have tried. adding the following line to Distrubtion.xml <bundle id="pluginid" path="path/to/myplugin.bundle"/> adding component tag to pkgbuild also doesn't do anything --component "path/to/myplugin.bundle" The bundle itself is build with XCode - it is a simple UI for user to type some input in Apple provides documentation for Distribution.xml file, which supports different UI elements but doesn't support text input - docs I have been also looking at this tutorial , it is very outdated but i could still fit it to my needs except the part where the .bundle file needs to be inserted into .pkg. Note - there is no option to view the contents of .pkg file build with pkbuild/productbuild How can i do this process correctly? I would like to link my installer pane plugin to a generic .pkg(with licenses and so on). I'd appreciate any kind of help!

memory leak upon mouse down in a NSTextField
Dear all, Sorry if the topic has already been commented but I could not be able to find it in over 10,000 picks using the forum search field... My problem is that with any NSTextField in my app, a click will result in a memory leak. There is no code attached, just bindings to NSNumber properties. How can I fix this ? Thanks for your help. Best regards Chris

memory leak/increased memory by NSTextField setString
I just put the TextField on UI and call the NSTextField setString, but it is memory usage is increasing. StoryBoard Objective C put TextField and button to UI set TextField variable to "ABC" in ViewController.h @property (weak) IBOutlet NSTextView* ABC; on button event function //dispatch_sync(dispatch_get_main_queue(), ^{ [_ABC setString:str]; //}); How to block the memory usage increase? Also I was check on Instruments app, and there are many malloc 48bytes, its count is almost same with setString count. Thank you!

Activate hoverEffect on separate entity attachment view
Hi, I'm working on RealityView and I have two entities in RCP. In order to set views for both entities, I have to create two separate attachments for each entity. What I want to achieve is that when I hover (by eye) on one entity's attachment, it would trigger the hover effect of the other entity's attachment. I try to use the hoverEffectGroup, but it would only activate the hover effect in a subview, instead a complete separate view. I refer to the following WWDC instruction for the hover effect. https://aninterestingwebsite.com/videos/play/wwdc2024/10152/

Dynamic island not displaying UI views
i finally got previews for dynamic island to work and I'm just trying to first work on adding a static UI elements to my dynamic island like i did for my live screen live activity, but my dynamic island view is showing up totally empty, if i add my app icon image to the compact leading closure, it doesn't appear, if i ad text to an expanded region closure it doesn't appear. am really stuck on this and would approeciate the help. var body: some View { Image("dynamicrep") .resizable() .scaledToFit() .clipShape(.circle) } } struct DynamicRepLiveActivity: Widget { var body: some WidgetConfiguration { ActivityConfiguration(for: DynamicRepAttributes.self) { context in VStack { HStack(spacing: 257) { Text("from \(context.attributes.titleName ?? "no title")") .fontWeight(.light) .font(.system(size: 16)) .foregroundStyle(Color.gray) Circle() .frame(width: 53, height: 50) .foregroundStyle(Color.gray).opacity(0.23) .overlay { Image("mmicon") } } .frame(maxWidth: 500, maxHeight: 210) Spacer() Text("\(context.attributes.contentBody ?? "no content")") } .activityBackgroundTint(Color.cyan) .activitySystemActionForegroundColor(Color.black) .frame(width: 500, height: 300) } dynamicIsland: { context in DynamicIsland { // Expanded UI goes here. Compose the expanded UI through // various regions, like leading/trailing/center/bottom DynamicIslandExpandedRegion(.leading) { Text("from \(context.attributes.titleName ??

I have an iOS app where I'm trying to paste something previously copied to the user's UIPasteboard. I came across the UIPasteControl as an option for a user to tap to silently paste without having the prompt "Allow Paste" pop up. For some reason, despite having what seemingly is the correct configurations for the UIPasteControl, on testing a tap, nothing is called. I expected override func paste(itemProviders: [NSItemProvider]) to fire, but it does not. Any help would be appreciated as there doesn't seem to be much info anywhere regarding UIPasteControl. import UniformTypeIdentifiers class ViewController: UIViewController { private let pasteControl = UIPasteControl() override func viewDidLoad() { super.viewDidLoad() view.backgroundColor = .systemBackground pasteControl.target = self pasteConfiguration = UIPasteConfiguration(acceptableTypeIdentifiers: [ UTType.text.identifier, UTType.url.identifier, UTType.plainText.identifier ]) view.addSubview(pasteControl) pasteControl.translatesAutoresizingMaskIntoConstraints = false NSLayoutConstraint.activate([ pasteControl.centerXAnchor.constraint(equalTo: view.centerXAnchor), pasteControl.centerYAnchor.constraint(equalTo: view.centerYAnchor), ]) } } extension ViewController { override func paste(itemProviders: [NSItemProvider]) { for provider in itemProviders { if provider.hasItemConformingToTypeIdentifier(UTType.url.identifier) { provider.loadObject(ofClass: URL.self) { [weak self] reading, _ in guard let url = reading as? URL else { return } print(url) } } else if provider.hasItemConformingToTypeIdentifier(UTType.plainText.identifier) { provider.loadObject(ofClass: NSString.self) { [weak self] reading, _ in guard let nsstr = reading as? NSString else { return } let str = nsstr as String if let url = URL(string: str) { print(url) } } } } } }
