ARKit Body Tracking not detecting ARBodyAnchor on iOS 26.x (FB15128723)
Since updating to iOS 26.0 (and confirmed on 26.1), ARBodyTrackingConfiguration no longer detects a valid ARBodyAnchor on devices with LiDAR (e.g., iPhone 15 Pro, iPhone 17 Pro Max). This issue reproduces in custom projects and Apple’s official sample “Capturing Body Motion in 3D”. The AR session runs normally, but the delegate call: func session(_ session: ARSession, didUpdate anchors: [ARAnchor]) never yields an ARBodyAnchor with valid joint transforms. All joints return nil when calling: body.skeleton.modelTransform(for: jointName) resulting in 0 valid joints per frame. Environment • Device: iPhone 17 Pro Max (LiDAR) • iOS: 26.0 / 26.1 • Xcode: 16.0 (stable) • Framework: ARKit + RealityKit • Configuration used: config.worldAlignment = .gravityAndHeading config.isAutoFocusEnabled = true config.environmentTexturing = .none session.run(config) Also tested: with and without frameSemantics = .bodyDetection Expected Behavior ARBodyAnchor should be detected and body.skeleton should contain ~89 valid joints with continuous updates.

Access Main Camera not working in VisionOS 26.1
I downloaded the official sample project “Accessing the Main Camera”, but I found that it’s not able to retrieve the camera feed on visionOS 26.1. After checking the debug logs, it seems the issue is caused by the system being unable to find the expected format. I tested on a device running visionOS 2, and the camera feed worked correctly — but only when using the sample code from the visionOS 2 version, not the current one. I also noticed that some of the APIs have changed between versions. Has anyone managed to successfully access the camera feed on visionOS 26.1?

Alternatives to SceneView
Hey there, since SceneView has been marked as „deprecated“ for SwiftUI, I‘m wondering which alternatives should be considered for the following situation: I have a SwiftUI app (for iOS and iPadOS) where users can view (with rotate, scale, move gestures) 3D models (USDZ) in a scene. The models will be downloaded from web backend and called via local URL paths. What I tested: I‘ve tried ARView in .nonAR mode, RealityView, however I didn‘t get the expected response -> User can rotate, scale the 3D models in a virtual space. ARView in nonAR mode still shows the object like in normal AR mode without camera stream. I tried to add Gestures to the RealityView on iOS - loading USDZ 3D models worked but the gestures didn’t). Model3D is only available for visionOS (that would be amazing to have it for iOS) I also checked QuickLook Preview however it works pretty strange via Filepicker etc, which is not the way how the user should load the 3D models in my app. Maybe I missed something, I couldn’t find anything which can help me. I‘m pretty much stucked adopting the latest and greatest frameworks/APIs in my App and taking the next steps porting my app to visionOS. Long story short 😃: Does someone have an idea what is the alternative to SceneView for USDZ 3D models? I appreciate your support!! Thanks in advance!

Xcode Cloud builds don't work with *.usdz files in a RealityComposer package
In courses like Compose interactive 3D content in Reality Composer Pro Realitykit Engineers recommended working with Reality Composer Pro to create RealityKit packages to embed in our Realitykit Xcode projects. And, comparing the workflow to Unity/Unreal, I can see the reasoning since it is nice to prepare scenes/materials/assets visually. Now when we also want to run a Xcode Cloud CI/CD pipeline this seems to come into conflict: When adding a basic *.usdz to the RealityKitContent.rkassets folder, every build we run on Xcode cloud fails with: Compile Reality Asset RealityKitContent.rkassets ❌realitytool requires Metal for this operation and it is not available in this build environment I have also found this related forum post here but it was specifically about compiling a *.skybox.

Presenting images in RealityKit sample No Longer Builds
After updating to the latest visionOS beta, visionOS 26 Beta 4 (23M5300g) the ‘Presenting images in RealityKit’ sample from the following link no longer builds due to an error. https://aninterestingwebsite.com/documentation/RealityKit/presenting-images-in-realitykit Expected / Previous: Application builds and runs on device, working as described in the documentation. Reality: Application builds, but does not run on device due to an error (shown in screenshot) “Thread 1: EXC_BAD_ACCESS (code=1, address=0xb)”. The application still runs on the simulator, but not on device. When launching the app from Xcode, it builds and installs correctly but hangs due to the respective error. When loading the app from the Home Screen, the app does not load, and immediately returns to the Home Screen. This Xcode project previously ran with no changes to code - the only change was updating the visionOS system software to the latest version. visionOS 26 Beta 4 (23M5300g) Is anyone else experiencing this issue?

RoomPlan Framework v2 - Stairs missing
Hello Community, I'm encountering an issue with the latest iOS 17 update, specifically related to RoomPlan version-2. In iOS 16, when using RoomPlan version-1, we were able to display stairs in our app. However, after upgrading to iOS 17 and implementing RoomPlan version-2, the stairs are no longer visible. Despite thorough investigation, I couldn't find any option within the code to show or hide stairs, or any other objects for that matter. It seems like a specific issue with the update rather than a coding error on our part. Has anyone else encountered a similar problem? If so, I would greatly appreciate any insights or solutions you might have. It's crucial for our app functionality to have stairs displayed accurately, and we're currently at a loss on how to address this issue. Thank you in advance for any assistance you can provide. Best regards

Rendering scene in RealityView to an Image
Is there any way to render a RealityView to an Image/UIImage like we used to be able to do using SCNView.snapshot() ? ImageRenderer doesn't work because it renders a SwiftUI view hierarchy, and I need the currently presented RealityView with camera background and 3D scene content the way the user sees it I tried UIHostingController and UIGraphicsImageRenderer like extension View { func snapshot() -> UIImage { let controller = UIHostingController(rootView: self) let view = controller.view let targetSize = controller.view.intrinsicContentSize view?.bounds = CGRect(origin: .zero, size: targetSize) view?.backgroundColor = .clear let renderer = UIGraphicsImageRenderer(size: targetSize) return renderer.image { _ in view?.drawHierarchy(in: view!.bounds, afterScreenUpdates: true) } } } but that leads to the app freezing and sending an infinite loop of [CAMetalLayer nextDrawable] returning nil because allocation failed. Same thing happens when I try return renderer.image { ctx in view.layer.render(in: ctx.cgContext) } Now that SceneKit is deprecated, I didn't want to start a new app using deprecated APIs.

Scene not found after changes in Reality Composer Pro
randomly, the app does not work after small changes in Reality Composer. Small changes like scaling a object a tiny bit. to fix the error, i have to change another element in reality composer and hope for the best. if this does not help, i change (transform) something else, or deactive/activate something to get the project working again. I can't see a pattern why the Reality Composer Project sometimes gets in a state where it does not compile anymore.

visionOS Simulator Rotate and Scale gestures difficult to register (capture)
We were having an issue wrb the system rotate and scale gestures (two-handed gestures / RotateGesture3D and MagnifyGesture) were extremely difficult to register (make work) in the visionOS simulator. The solution we found was to: Launch your app in the simulator Move the pointer on top of the 3D object for which you are testing rotation and scaling gestures. Press and hold the Option key to display touch points (ie: the two-handed gesture points). While maintaining the option key pressed, release the pointer and re-enable it again. I am using a track pad with tap-to-click enabled and three-finger to drag enabled in accessibility, so "release the pointer and re-enable it again" translates simply to removing the three finger and placing them again on the trackpad. If you have maintained the option key pressed, then you should now be able to rotate and scale the 3D object. Context if you are interested: Our issue was also occurring in Apple's own sample project relating to gestures "Transforming RealityKit entities using gestures", at below link. On Apple's article "Interacting with your app in the visionOS simulator" at the below link, for two-handed gestures it states "Press and hold the Option key to display touch points. Move the pointer while pressing the Option key to change the distance between the touch points. Move the pointer and hold the Shift and Option keys to reposition the touch points." This simply did not work anymore for rotation and scaling gestures. These gestures used to be a lot more responsive in Sonoma. Either the article should be updated to what I described above, or there is an issue. Our colleague who is using macOS Sonoma 14.6.1 with the latest release of Xcode is not having these issues. Here is the list of configurations (troubleshooting we tried!) where it is difficult to achieve rotation and scaling gestures in the visionOS simulator: macOS Sequoia 16.1 Beta, Xcode 16.1 RC w visionOS 2.1 macOS Sequoia 16.1 Beta, Xcode 16.1 RC w visionOS 2.0 macOS Sequoia 16.1 Beta, Xcode 16.2 Beta 1 w visionOS 2.1 macOS Sequoia 16.1 Beta, Xcode 16.2 Beta 1 w visionOS 2.0 macOS Sequoia 16.1 Beta, remove all Xcodes and installed the build from AppStore (Xcode 16.1) macOS Sequoia 16.1 Beta, Xcode 16.0 w visionOS 2.0 completely wiped out, and reset entire development machine, re-installed latest releases of sequoia (15.1) and xcode (15.1)) Throughout these troubleshooting I often: restarted both xcode and sim erased all derived data erased all contents and settings from sims performed fresh git clones None of the above worked, only the workaround described above works atm. As you can maybe deduce, it was very time consuming to find the workaround, we also wasted some development effort thinking our gesture development was no-good. Hopefully this will help other devs. Article Link: https://aninterestingwebsite.com/documentation/xcode/interacting-with-your-app-in-the-visionos-simulator Gesture sample project link: https://aninterestingwebsite.com/documentation/realitykit/transforming-realitykit-entities-with-gestures

RealityKit Trace Metric Max/Range for VisionOS app
Hi Nathaniel, I spoke with you yesterday in the WWDC lab. Thanks for chatting with me! Is it possible to get a link to a doc that has some key metrics I'd find in a RealityKit trace so I know if that metric is exceeding limits and probably causing a problem? Right now, I just see numbers and have no idea if a metric is high or low :). This is specifically for a VisionOS app. Thanks, Bob

Unity on VisionOS development - best practice on structuring a project
Hello, I am experimenting with Unity to develop a mixed reality (MR) application for visionOS. I would like to understand the best approach for structuring my project: Should I build the entire experience in Unity (both Windows and Volumes)? Or is it better to create only certain elements (e.g., Volumes) in Unity while managing Windows separately in Xcode? Also, how well do interactions (e.g pinch, grab…) created in Unity integrate with Xcode? If I use the PolySpatial plugin, does that allow me to manage all interactions entirely within Unity, or would I still need to handle/integrate part of it in Xcode? What's worked best for you? Please let me know if you have any recommendations, Thanks!

Nested RealityKit entity collisions priority
Hello, I'm struggling trying to interact with a RealityKit entity nested (or at least visually nested) in a second one. I think I've the same issue as mentioned on this StackOverflow post, but I can't manage to reproduce the solution. https://stackoverflow.com/questions/79244424/how-to-prioritize-a-specific-entity-when-collision-boxes-overlap-in-realitykit What I'd like to achieve is to translate the red box using a DragGesture, while still be able to interact using a TapGesture on the sphere. Currently, I can only do one at a time. Does anyone know the solution? extension CollisionGroup { static let parent: CollisionGroup = CollisionGroup(rawValue: 1 << 0) static let child: CollisionGroup = CollisionGroup(rawValue: 1 << 1) } struct ImmersiveView: View { var body: some View { RealityView { content in let boxMesh = MeshResource.generateBox(size: 0.35) let boxMaterial = SimpleMaterial(color: .red.withAlphaComponent(0.25), isMetallic: false) let boxEntity = ModelEntity(mesh: boxMesh, materials: [boxMaterial]) let sphereMesh = MeshResource.generateSphere(radius: 0.05) let sphereMaterial = SimpleMaterial(color: .blue, isMetallic: false) let sphereEntity = ModelEntity(mesh: sphereMesh, materials: [sphereMaterial]) content.add(sphereEntity) content.add(boxEntity) boxEntity.components.set(InputTargetComponent()) boxEntity.components.set( CollisionComponent( shapes: [ShapeResource.generateBox(size: SIMD3<Float>(repeating: 0.35))], isStatic: true, filter: CollisionFilter( group: .parent, mask: .parent.subtracting(.child) ) ) ) sphereEntity.components.set(InputTargetComponent()) sphereEntity.components.set(HoverEffectComponent()) sphereEntity.components.set( CollisionComponent( shapes: [ShapeResource.generateSphere(radius: 0.05)], isStatic: true, filter: CollisionFilter( group: .child, mask: .child.subtracting(.parent) ) ) ) } } }

[WWDC25] For GuessTogether, can you initiate a FaceTime call via the custom SharePlay button?
Hello, For GuessTogether source code, it seems like the code assumes that you're already in a FaceTime call before pressing the custom SharePlay button (labeled "Play Guess Together"). If not already on a FaceTime call, my Apple Vision Pro and the visionOS simulator both do nothing after throwing warnings. Is this intended behavior? If so, how do I make it so that pressing the button can also initiate FaceTime calls? Is this allowed? Thank you!

visionOS pushWindow being dismissed on app foreground
We seen to have found an issue when using the pushWindow action on visionOS. The issue occurs if the app is backgrounded then reopened by selecting the apps icon on the home screen. Any window that is opened via the pushWindow action is then dismissed. We've been able to replicate the issue in a small sample project. Replication steps Open app Open window via the push action Press the digital crown On the home screen select the apps icon again The pushed window will now be dismissed. There is a sample project linked here that shows off the issue, including a video of the bug in progress

Cannot extract imagePair from generated Spatial Photos
Hi I am trying to implement something simple as people can share their Spatial Photos with others (just like this post). I encountered the same issue with him, but his answer doesn't help me out here. Briefly speaking, I am using CGImgaeSoruce to extract paired leftImage and rightImage from one fetched spatial photo let photos = PHAsset.fetchAssets(with: .image, options: nil) // enumerating photos .... if asset.mediaSubtypes.contains(PHAssetMediaSubtype.spatialMedia) { spatialAsset = asset } // other code show below I can fetch left and right images from native Spatial Photo (taken by Apple Vision Pro or iPhone 15+), but it didn't work on generated spatial photo (2D -> 3D feat in Photos). // imageCount is 1 when it comes to generated spatial photo let imageCount = CGImageSourceGetCount(source) I searched over the net and someone says the generated version is having a depth image instead of left/right pair. But still I cannot extract any depth image from imageSource. The full code below, the imagePair extraction will stop at "no groups found": func extractPairedImage(phAsset: PHAsset, completion: @escaping (StereoImagePair?) -> Void) { let options = PHImageRequestOptions() options.isNetworkAccessAllowed = true options.deliveryMode = .highQualityFormat options.resizeMode = .none options.version = .original return PHImageManager.default().requestImageDataAndOrientation(for: phAsset, options: options) { imageData, _, _, _ in guard let imageData, let imageSource = CGImageSourceCreateWithData(imageData as CFData, nil) else { completion(nil) return } let stereoImagePair = stereoImagePair(from: imageSource) completion(stereoImagePair) } } } func stereoImagePair(from source: CGImageSource) -> StereoImagePair? { guard let properties = CGImageSourceCopyProperties(source, nil) as? [CFString: Any] else { return nil } let imageCount = CGImageSourceGetCount(source) print(String(format: "%d images found", imageCount)) guard let groups = properties[kCGImagePropertyGroups] as? [[CFString: Any]] else { /// function returns here print("no groups found") return nil } guard let stereoGroup = groups.first(where: { let groupType = $0[kCGImagePropertyGroupType] as! CFString return groupType == kCGImagePropertyGroupTypeStereoPair }) else { return nil } guard let leftIndex = stereoGroup[kCGImagePropertyGroupImageIndexLeft] as? Int, let rightIndex = stereoGroup[kCGImagePropertyGroupImageIndexRight] as? Int, let leftImage = CGImageSourceCreateImageAtIndex(source, leftIndex, nil), let rightImage = CGImageSourceCreateImageAtIndex(source, rightIndex, nil), let leftProperties = CGImageSourceCopyPropertiesAtIndex(source, leftIndex, nil), let rightProperties = CGImageSourceCopyPropertiesAtIndex(source, rightIndex, nil) else { return nil } return (leftImage, rightImage, self.identifier) } Any suggestion? Thanks visionOS 2.4

Creating a voxel mesh and render it using metal within a RealityKit ImmersiveView
Hi everyone, I'm creating an educational App that allows doing computational design in an immersive environment with the Vision Pro. The App is free and can be found here: https://apps.apple.com/us/app/arcade-topology/id6742103633 The problem I have is that the mesh of voxels I currently create use ModelEntity and I recently read that this is horrible for scalability. I already start to see issues when I try to use thousands of voxels. I also read somewhere that I should then take advantage of GPUs and use metal to that end. I was wondering if someone could point me to a tutorial or article that discusses this. In essence, I need to create a 3D voxel mesh, and those voxels have to update their opacity within an iterative loop. Thanks! —Alejandro

RealityView content.add Called Twice Automatically
I’m working with RealityView in visionOS and noticed that the content closure seems to run twice, causing content.add to be called twice automatically. This results in duplicate entities being added to the scene unless I manually check for duplicates. How can I fix that? Thanks.

Hello, I'm struggling trying to interact with a RealityKit entity nested (or at least visually nested) in a second one. I think I've the same issue as mentioned on this StackOverflow post, but I can't manage to reproduce the solution. https://stackoverflow.com/questions/79244424/how-to-prioritize-a-specific-entity-when-collision-boxes-overlap-in-realitykit What I'd like to achieve is to translate the red box using a DragGesture, while still be able to interact using a TapGesture on the sphere. Currently, I can only do one at a time. Does anyone know the solution? extension CollisionGroup { static let parent: CollisionGroup = CollisionGroup(rawValue: 1 << 0) static let child: CollisionGroup = CollisionGroup(rawValue: 1 << 1) } struct ImmersiveView: View { var body: some View { RealityView { content in let boxMesh = MeshResource.generateBox(size: 0.35) let boxMaterial = SimpleMaterial(color: .red.withAlphaComponent(0.25), isMetallic: false) let boxEntity = ModelEntity(mesh: boxMesh, materials: [boxMaterial]) let sphereMesh = MeshResource.generateSphere(radius: 0.05) let sphereMaterial = SimpleMaterial(color: .blue, isMetallic: false) let sphereEntity = ModelEntity(mesh: sphereMesh, materials: [sphereMaterial]) content.add(sphereEntity) content.add(boxEntity) boxEntity.components.set(InputTargetComponent()) boxEntity.components.set( CollisionComponent( shapes: [ShapeResource.generateBox(size: SIMD3<Float>(repeating: 0.35))], isStatic: true, filter: CollisionFilter( group: .parent, mask: .parent.subtracting(.child) ) ) ) sphereEntity.components.set(InputTargetComponent()) sphereEntity.components.set(HoverEffectComponent()) sphereEntity.components.set( CollisionComponent( shapes: [ShapeResource.generateSphere(radius: 0.05)], isStatic: true, filter: CollisionFilter( group: .child, mask: .child.subtracting(.parent) ) ) ) } } }

Thanks! —Alejandro
