ARKit Planes do not appear where expected on visionOS
I'm using ARKitSession and PlaneDetectionProvider to detect planes. I have a basics process to create an entity for each detected plane. Each one will get a random color for the material. Each plane is sized based on the bounds of the anchor provided by ARKit. let mesh = MeshResource.generatePlane( width: anchor.geometry.extent.width, depth: anchor.geometry.extent.height ) Then I'm using this to position each entity. entity.transform = Transform(matrix: anchor.originFromAnchorTransform) This seems to be the right method, but many (not all) planes are not where they should be. The sizes look OK, but the X and Y positions off. Take this large green plane on the wall. It should span the entire wall, but it is offset along the X position so that it is pushed to the left from where the center of the anchor is. When I visualize surfaces using the Xcode debugging tools, that tool reports the planes where I'd expect them to be. Can you see what I'm getting wrong here? Full code below struct Example068: View { @State var session = ARKitSession() @State private var planeAnchors: [UUID: Entity] = [:] @State private var planeColors: [UUID: Color] = [:] var body: some View { RealityView { content in } update: { content in for (_, entity) in planeAnchors { if !content.entities.contains(entity) { content.add(entity) } } } .task { try! await setupAndRunPlaneDetection() } } func setupAndRunPlaneDetection() async throws { let planeData = PlaneDetectionProvider(alignments: [.horizontal, .vertical, .slanted]) if PlaneDetectionProvider.isSupported { do { try await session.run([planeData]) for await update in planeData.anchorUpdates { switch update.event { case .added, .updated: let anchor = update.anchor if planeColors[anchor.id] == nil { planeColors[anchor.id] = generatePastelColor() } let planeEntity = createPlaneEntity(for: anchor, color: planeColors[anchor.id]!) planeAnchors[anchor.id] = planeEntity case .removed: let anchor = update.anchor planeAnchors.removeValue(forKey: anchor.id) planeColors.removeValue(forKey: anchor.id) } } } catch { print("ARKit session error \(error)") } } } private func generatePastelColor() -> Color { let hue = Double.random(in: 0...1) let saturation = Double.random(in: 0.2...0.4) let brightness = Double.random(in: 0.8...1.0) return Color(hue: hue, saturation: saturation, brightness: brightness) } private func createPlaneEntity(for anchor: PlaneAnchor, color: Color) -> Entity { let mesh = MeshResource.generatePlane( width: anchor.geometry.extent.width, depth: anchor.geometry.extent.height ) var material = PhysicallyBasedMaterial() material.baseColor.tint = UIColor(color) let entity = ModelEntity(mesh: mesh, materials: [material]) entity.transform = Transform(matrix: anchor.originFromAnchorTransform) return entity } }

How to play blend shape animations or morph animations exported from blender in Vision Pro apps using Reality Kit
So I am exporting a .usdc file from blender that already has some morph animations. The animations play well in blender but when I export I cannot seem to play them in RealityKit or RCP. Entity.availableAnimations is an empty array. Not of the child objects in the entity hierarchy has an animation library component with it. Maybe I am exporting it wrong but I tried multiple combinations but doesn't seem to work. Here are my export settings in blender The original file I purchased is an FBX file that has the animation but when I try to directly get it in RealityConverter it doesn't seem to play animations.

VisionOS 2.0 Main Camera Access Enterprise Entitlement Not Recognized in XCode
I am working on a project that requires access to the main camera on the Vision Pro. My main account holder applied for the necessary enterprise entitlement and we were approved and received the Enterprise.license file by email. I have added the Enterprise.license file to my project, and manually added the com.apple.developer.arkit.main-camera-access.allow entitlement to the entitlement file and set it to true since it was not available in the list when I tried to use the + Capability button in the Signing & Capabilites tab. I am getting an error: Provisioning profile "iOS Team Provisioning Profile: " doesn't include the com.apple.developer.arkit.main-camera-access.allow entitlement. I have checked the provisioning profile settings online, and there is no manual option for adding the main camera access entitlement, and it does not seem to be getting the approval from the license.

Apple Vision Pro Developer Strap: Video Out and Recording Time Limit
Any way to extend the video recording time in Reality Composer Pro from 3:00 to any longer value, such as editing preferences in Terminal or other workaround? Is there any way to use the strap and a USB-C cable as a live video stream input source that would mirror to Quicktime or some other video capture tool? I am assuming there is no online documentation or user manual for the strap, but please correct me if I'm wrong. Thank you.

CapturedRoom.Section is missing a lot of information
The Section struct only publicly makes the center property available, but this is a SIMD3 that doesn't seem to line up with the rest of the model. All other objects have a 4x4 transform matrix that accurately gives each position and rotation. When inspecting a Section in the debugger, many more properties are visible such as polygon and transform. Why are these not visible? The transform in particular seems necessary to make any sort of use of the Sections.

RC Pro Timeline Notification Not Received in Xcode
I'm having a heck of a time getting this to work. I'm trying to add an event notification at the end of a timeline animation to trigger something in code but I'm not receiving the notification from RC Pro. I've watched that Compose Interactive 3D Content video quite a few times now and have tried many different ways. RC Pro has the correct ID names on the notifications. I'm not a programmer at all. Just a lowly 3D artist. Here is my code... import SwiftUI import RealityKit import RealityKitContent extension Notification.Name { static let button1Pressed = Notification.Name("button1pressed") static let button2Pressed = Notification.Name("button2pressed") static let button3Pressed = Notification.Name("button3pressed") } struct MainButtons: View { @State private var transitionToNextSceneForButton1 = false @State private var transitionToNextSceneForButton2 = false @State private var transitionToNextSceneForButton3 = false @Environment(AppModel.self) var appModel @Environment(\.dismissWindow) var dismissWindow // Notification publishers for each button private let button1PressedReceived = NotificationCenter.default.publisher(for: .button1Pressed) private let button2PressedReceived = NotificationCenter.default.publisher(for: .button2Pressed) private let button3PressedReceived = NotificationCenter.default.publisher(for: .button3Pressed) var body: some View { ZStack { RealityView { content in // Load your RC Pro scene that contains the 3D buttons. if let immersiveContentEntity = try? await Entity(named: "MainButtons", in: realityKitContentBundle) { content.add(immersiveContentEntity) } } // Optionally attach a gesture if you want to debug a generic tap: .gesture( TapGesture().targetedToAnyEntity().onEnded { value in print("3D Object tapped") _ = value.entity.applyTapForBehaviors() // Do not post a test notification here—rely on RC Pro timeline events. } ) } .onAppear { dismissWindow(id: "main") // Remove any test notification posting code. } // Listen for distinct button notifications. .onReceive(button1PressedReceived) { (output) in print("Button 1 pressed notification received") transitionToNextSceneForButton1 = true } .onReceive(button2PressedReceived.receive(on: DispatchQueue.main)) { _ in print("Button 2 pressed notification received") transitionToNextSceneForButton2 = true } .onReceive(button3PressedReceived.receive(on: DispatchQueue.main)) { _ in print("Button 3 pressed notification received") transitionToNextSceneForButton3 = true } // Present next scenes for each button as needed. Do you retain a reference to your content events in RealityView?
Do you retain a reference to your content (RealityViewContent) events? For example, the Manipulation Events docs from Apple use _ to discard the result. In theory the event should keep working while the content is alive. _ = content.subscribe(to: ManipulationEvents.WillBegin.self) { event in event.entity.components[ModelComponent.self]?.materials[0] = SimpleMaterial(color: .blue, isMetallic: false) } _ = content.subscribe(to: ManipulationEvents.WillEnd.self) { event in event.entity.components[ModelComponent.self]?.materials[0] = SimpleMaterial(color: .red, isMetallic: false) } We could store these events in state. I've seen this in a few samples and apps. @State var beginSubscription: EventSubscription? ... beginSubscription = content.subscribe(to: ManipulationEvents.WillBegin.self) { event in event.entity.components[ModelComponent.self]?.materials[0] = SimpleMaterial(color: .blue, isMetallic: false) } The main advantage I see is that we can be more explicit about when we remove the event. Are there other reasons to keep a reference to these events?

The background color of the cube is black, I guess. Where does this color come from and how can I change it into, say, red? Thanks.

Digital Crown press when both immersive space and additional windows are presented
I have been experimenting with the Hello World sample app from https://aninterestingwebsite.com/documentation/visionos/world and I came across behavior that appears inconsistent with user-facing documentation describing the device controls at https://support.apple.com/en-gb/guide/apple-vision-pro/tan1e2a29e00/visionos I tried pressing simulator's "Home" button while "Objects in Orbit" immersive space was presented alongside with the main application window. According to user documentation, pressing Digital Crown should take the user directly to Home View. In my test a single press only dismissed the immersive space, I needed another press to "exit" the app and go to Home View. Is this behavior expected? I am assuming that "Home" button in the simulator behaves as if the user pressed Digital Crown on the device, I don't have access to the actual hardware.

Playing USDZ animation at last known location of reference object
Hi there I'm using Reality Composer Pro to anchor virtual content to a .referenceobject. However moving the referenceobject quickly causes tracking to stop. (I know this is a limitation and I am trying to embrace it as a feature) Is there a way to play a USDZ animation at the last known location, after detecting that the reference object is no longer tracked? is it possible to set this up in Reality Composer pro? I'm trying to get the USDZ to play before the Virtual Content disappears (due to reference object not being located). So that it smooths out the vanishing of the content. Nearly everything is set up in Reality Composer pro with my immersive.scene just adding virtual content to the reference object which anchors it in the RCP Scene, so my immersive view just does this - if let immersiveContentEntity = try? await Entity(named: "Immersive", in: realityKitContentBundle) { content.add(immersiveContentEntity) & this .onAppear { appModel.immersiveSpaceState = .open } .onDisappear { appModel.immersiveSpaceState = .closed } I have tried Using SpatialTracking & WorldTrackingProvider, but I'm still quite new to Swift and coding in general so im unsure how to implement in conjunction with my RCP scene and/or if this is the right way to go about it. Also I have implemented this at the beginning of object tracking. All I had to do was add a onAppear behavior to the object to play a USDZ and that works. Doing it for disappearing (due to loss of reference object) seems to be a lot harder.

What is the first reliable position of the apple vision pro device?
In several visionOS apps, we readjust our scenes to the user's eye level (their heads). But, we have encountered issues whereby the WorldTrackingProvider returns bad/incorrect positions for the first x number of frames. See below code which you can copy paste in any Immersive Space. Relaunch the space and observe the numberOfBadWorldInfos value is inconsistent. a. what is the most reliable way to get the devices's position? b. is this indeed a bug? c. are we using worldInfo improperly? d. as a workaround, in our apps we set to 10 the number of frames to let pass before using worldInfo, should we set our threshold differently? import ARKit import Combine import OSLog import SwiftUI import RealityKit import RealityKitContent let SUBSYSTEM = Bundle.main.bundleIdentifier! struct ImmersiveView: View { let logger = Logger(subsystem: SUBSYSTEM, category: "ImmersiveView") let session = ARKitSession() let worldInfo = WorldTrackingProvider() @State var sceneUpdateSubscription: EventSubscription? = nil @State var deviceTransform: simd_float4x4? = nil @State var numberOfBadWorldInfos = 0 @State var isBadWorldInfoLoged = false var body: some View { RealityView { content in try? await session.run([worldInfo]) sceneUpdateSubscription = content.subscribe(to: SceneEvents.Update.self) { event in guard let pose = worldInfo.queryDeviceAnchor(atTimestamp: CACurrentMediaTime()) else { return } // `worldInfo` does not return correct values for the first few frames (exact number of frames is unknown) // - known SO: https://stackoverflow.com/questions/78396187/how-to-determine-the-first-reliable-position-of-the-apple-vision-pro-device deviceTransform = pose.originFromAnchorTransform if deviceTransform!.columns.3.y < 1.6 { numberOfBadWorldInfos += 1 logger.warning("\(#function) \(#line) deviceTransform.columns.3.y \(deviceTransform!.columns.3.y), numberOfBadWorldInfos \(numberOfBadWorldInfos)") } else { if !isBadWorldInfoLoged { logger.info("\(#function) \(#line) deviceTransform.columns.3.y \(deviceTransform!.columns.3.y), numberOfBadWorldInfos \(numberOfBadWorldInfos)") } isBadWorldInfoLoged = true // stop logging. } } } } }

Are there other reasons to keep a reference to these events?

I'm using ARKit in SwiftUI to show a cube with a number as shown below. import SwiftUI import RealityKit import ARKit struct ContentView : View { var body: some View { return ARViewContainer() } } #Preview { ContentView() } struct ARViewContainer: UIViewRepresentable { typealias UIViewType = ARView func makeUIView(context: UIViewRepresentableContext<ARViewContainer>) -> ARView { let arView = ARView(frame: .zero, cameraMode: .ar, automaticallyConfigureSession: true) arView.enableTapGesture() return arView } func updateUIView(_ uiView: ARView, context: UIViewRepresentableContext<ARViewContainer>) { } } extension ARView { func enableTapGesture() { let tapGestureRecognizer = UITapGestureRecognizer(target: self, action: #selector(handleTap(recognizer:))) self.addGestureRecognizer(tapGestureRecognizer) } @objc func handleTap(recognizer: UITapGestureRecognizer) { let tapLocation = recognizer.location(in: self) // print("Tap location: \(tapLocation)") guard let rayResult = self.ray(through: tapLocation) else { return } let results = self.raycast(from: tapLocation, allowing: .estimatedPlane, alignment: .any) if let firstResult = results.first { let position = simd_make_float3(firstResult.worldTransform.columns.3) placeObject(at: position) } } func placeObject(at position: SIMD3<Float>) { let mesh = MeshResource.generateBox(size: 0.3) let material = SimpleMaterial(color: UIColor.systemRed, roughness: 0.3, isMetallic: true) let modelEntity = ModelEntity(mesh: mesh, materials: [material]) var unlitMaterial = UnlitMaterial() if let textureResource = generateTextResource(text: "1", textColor: UIColor.white) { unlitMaterial.color = .init(tint: .white, texture: .init(textureResource)) modelEntity.model?.materials = [unlitMaterial] let id = UUID().uuidString modelEntity.name = id modelEntity.transform.scale = [0.3, 0.1, 0.3] modelEntity.generateCollisionShapes(recursive: true) let anchorEntity = AnchorEntity(world: position) anchorEntity.addChild(modelEntity) self.scene.addAnchor(anchorEntity) } } func generateTextResource(text: String, textColor: UIColor) -> TextureResource? { if let image = text.image(withAttributes: [NSAttributedString.Key.foregroundColor: textColor], size: CGSize(width: 18, height: 18)), let cgImage = image.cgImage { let textureResource = try? TextureResource(image: cgImage, options: TextureResource.CreateOptions.init(semantic: nil)) return textureResource } return nil } } I tap the floor and get a cube with '1' as shown below. The background color of the cube is black, I guess. Where does this color come from and how can I change it into, say, red? Thanks.

In several visionOS apps, we readjust our scenes to the user's eye level (their heads). But, we have encountered issues whereby the WorldTrackingProvider returns bad/incorrect positions for the first x number of frames. See below code which you can copy paste in any Immersive Space. Relaunch the space and observe the numberOfBadWorldInfos value is inconsistent. a. what is the most reliable way to get the devices's position? b. is this indeed a bug? c. are we using worldInfo improperly? d. as a workaround, in our apps we set to 10 the number of frames to let pass before using worldInfo, should we set our threshold differently? import ARKit import Combine import OSLog import SwiftUI import RealityKit import RealityKitContent let SUBSYSTEM = Bundle.main.bundleIdentifier! struct ImmersiveView: View { let logger = Logger(subsystem: SUBSYSTEM, category: "ImmersiveView") let session = ARKitSession() let worldInfo = WorldTrackingProvider() @State var sceneUpdateSubscription: EventSubscription? = nil @State var deviceTransform: simd_float4x4? = nil @State var numberOfBadWorldInfos = 0 @State var isBadWorldInfoLoged = false var body: some View { RealityView { content in try? await session.run([worldInfo]) sceneUpdateSubscription = content.subscribe(to: SceneEvents.Update.self) { event in guard let pose = worldInfo.queryDeviceAnchor(atTimestamp: CACurrentMediaTime()) else { return } // `worldInfo` does not return correct values for the first few frames (exact number of frames is unknown) // - known SO: https://stackoverflow.com/questions/78396187/how-to-determine-the-first-reliable-position-of-the-apple-vision-pro-device deviceTransform = pose.originFromAnchorTransform if deviceTransform!.columns.3.y < 1.6 { numberOfBadWorldInfos += 1 logger.warning("\(#function) \(#line) deviceTransform.columns.3.y \(deviceTransform!.columns.3.y), numberOfBadWorldInfos \(numberOfBadWorldInfos)") } else { if !isBadWorldInfoLoged { logger.info("\(#function) \(#line) deviceTransform.columns.3.y \(deviceTransform!.columns.3.y), numberOfBadWorldInfos \(numberOfBadWorldInfos)") } isBadWorldInfoLoged = true // stop logging. } } } } }
