Unable to select a scene for preview in the SpriteKit actions editor
I am just starting to learn SpriteKit and I'm having trouble selecting a scene to preview an action in the actions editor. I created a new macOS Game project (Language: Swift, Game Technology: SpriteKit). When I open the generated 'Actions.sks' file, I see the message "No Preview Scene Selected" in the editor. I see the 'GameScene.sks' scene listed in the "Select..." control in the lower right, but it is greyed out. I'm not able to figure out how to select a scene to preview the action. I'm running Xcode 26.2 on macOS 15. Thanks very much for the help.

Improving person segmentation and occlusion quality in RealityKit
I’m building an app that uses RealityKit and specifically ARConfiguration.FrameSemantics.personSegmentationWithDepth. The goal is to insert an AR object into the scene behind a person, and an additional AR object in front of the person, while being as photo realistic as possible. Through testing, I’ve noticed that many times, the edges of the person segmentation mask are not well matched to the actual person, and parts of the person are transparent, with the AR object bleeding through. It’s sort of like a “bad green screen” effect, which I’d expect to see a little bit, but not to this extent. I’ve been testing on iPhone 16, iPhone 14 Pro, iPad Pro 12.9 inch 6th Generation, and iPhone 12 Pro, with similar results across all devices. I’m wondering what else I can do to improve this… either code changes, platform (like different iPhone models), or environment (like lighting, distance, etc). Attaching some example screen grabs and a minimum reproducible code sample. Appreciate any insights! import ARKit import SwiftUI import RealityKit struct RealityViewContainer: UIViewRepresentable { func makeUIView(context: Context) -> ARView { let arView = ARView(frame: .zero) arView.environment.sceneUnderstanding.options.insert(.occlusion) arView.renderOptions.insert(.disableMotionBlur) arView.renderOptions.insert(.disableDepthOfField) let configuration = ARWorldTrackingConfiguration() configuration.planeDetection = [.horizontal] if ARWorldTrackingConfiguration.supportsFrameSemantics(.personSegmentationWithDepth) { configuration.frameSemantics.insert(.personSegmentationWithDepth) } arView.session.run(configuration) arView.session.delegate = context.coordinator context.coordinator.arView = arView } func makeCoordinator() -> Coordinator { Coordinator(self) } class Coordinator: NSObject, ARSessionDelegate { var parent: RealityViewContainer var floorAnchor: ARPlaneAnchor? init(_ parent: RealityViewContainer) { self.parent = parent } func session(_ session: ARSession, didAdd anchors: [ARAnchor]) { if let arView,floorAnchor == nil { for anchor in anchors { if let horizontalPlaneAnchor = anchor as? ARPlaneAnchor, horizontalPlaneAnchor.alignment == .horizontal, horizontalPlaneAnchor.transform.columns.3.y < arView.cameraTransform.translation.y { // filter out ceiling floorAnchor = horizontalPlaneAnchor let backgroundEntity = BackgroundEntity() let anchorEntity = AnchorEntity(anchor: horizontalPlaneAnchor) anchorEntity.addChild(background) let foregroundEntity = ForegroundEntity() backgroundEntity.addChild(foregroundEntity) arView.scene.addAnchor(anchorEntity) arView.installGestures([.rotation, .translation], for: backgroundEntity) break // Stop after adding the first horizontal plane (floor) } } } } } }

Game Porting Toolkit: Any .exe exits immediately with no output
Hi Apple & devs, I'm trying to test various Windows .exe files using the Game Porting Toolkit (GPTK), but I’m hitting a wall: no matter what .exe I try, the command returns instantly with no output — no error, no logs, nothing. Here's what I'm doing: I'm using macOS Sequioa 15.5 on M1 macbook pro. I installed gameportingtoolkt GPTK 2.1 through brew from gcenx: brew install gcenx/wine/game-porting-toolkit When I run any .exe using GPTK's wine64, like this, e.g. with steam user@JMacBook-Pro / % WINEPREFIX=~/wine_prefix /usr/local/bin/gameportingtoolkit 'C:\SteamSetup.exe' --verbose user@JMacBook-Pro / % Immediate exit without any return code, output, nor errors. No output, no crash, no logs. Same result with simple test apps Running with WINEDEBUG=+all (still no output) Even running wine64 does the same thing. I’ve tried: Removing and reinstalling GPTK Creating a fresh WINEPREFIX Checking /tmp and ~/Library/Logs for logs — nothing Has anyone else experienced this or have any idea how to debug it? Is there ANY Apple support for this?? Thanks in advance.

Metal Shader inside Swift Package not found?
Hello everyone! I am trying to wrap a ViewModifier inside a Swift Package that bundles a metal shader file to be used in the modifier. Everything works as expected in the Preview, in the Simulator and on a real device for iOS. It also works in Preview and in the Simulator for tvOS but not on a real AppleTV. I have tried this on a 4th generation Apple TV running tvOS 26.3 using Xcode 26.2.0. Xcode logs the following: The metallib is processed and exists in the bundle. Open Shading Language (OSL) in Metal
Hi. I'm a 3D designer, using Blender for most of my work. The most recent Blender conference discussed utilizing the Open Shading Language (OSL) in their latest versions, which allows designers to write custom shaders for their workflows. At the moment, only Nvidia Optix GPU's can utilize this language for rendering (from what I understand), but Blender developers stated they are waiting on other GPU manufacturers to implement this feature as well. I'm not sure if there are any licensing issues here, but would this be something Apple could implement in Metal to make their hardware more attractive to the 3D design community? Any help or knowledge on this topic would be greatly appreciated.

Showing 3D/AR content on multiple pages in iOS with RealityView
Hi. I'm trying to show 3D or AR content in multiple pages on an iOS app but I have found that if a RealityView is used earlier in a flow then future uses will never display the camera feed, even if those earlier uses do not use any spatial tracking. For example, in the following simplified view, the second page realityView will not display the camera feed even though the first view does not use it not start a tracking session. struct ContentView: View { var body: some View { NavigationStack { VStack { RealityView { content in content.camera = .virtual // showing model skipped for brevity } NavigationLink("Second Page") { RealityView { content in content.camera = .spatialTracking } } } } } } What is the way around this so that 3D content can be displayed in multiple places in the app without preventing AR content from working? I have also found the same problem when wrapping an ARView for use in SwiftUI.

Game Center Challenges and Activities are not appearing
Hi, I'm trying to add game center challenges and activities to an already live game, but they are not appearing in game for testing, GameCenter, or the Games app. I know the game is setup with GameKit entitlements since this is a live game and it has working leaderboards and achievements. I've updated to Tahoe beta 8, added a challenge and activity on app store connect, added that to a new distribution and added that distribution to 'Add for Review' I'm using Unity and the Apple Unity plugin Not sure what other steps I'm missing Thanks

As I said my server is special build of unity project So now I have this kind of C# programm to check apple authority over public certificate i got from publicKeyUrl TextAsset textAsset; byte[] bytes; textAsset = Resources.Load<TextAsset>("AppleRootCA-G3"); bytes = textAsset.bytes; rootCert.ChainPolicy.ExtraStore.Add(new X509Certificate2(bytes)); textAsset = Resources.Load<TextAsset>("AppleRootCA-G2"); bytes = textAsset.bytes; rootCert.ChainPolicy.ExtraStore.Add(new X509Certificate2(bytes)); textAsset = Resources.Load<TextAsset>("AppleIncRootCertificate"); bytes = textAsset.bytes; rootCert.ChainPolicy.ExtraStore.Add(new X509Certificate2(bytes)); rootCert.Build(cert); Where cert is X509Certificate2 object I ge from publicKeyUrl AppleIncRootCertificate AppleRootCA-G2 AppleRootCA-G3 is certificates I got from https://www.apple.com/certificateauthority/ But it is not work Anytime rootCert.Build(cert); return false Why it is not work? May be I build keychain using wrong root CA cert? Or whole approach incorrect? Please help

Leaderboard not available to edit points
When I go to the leadership section, I have 8 currently active leaderboards. When I select "manage scores and players" I see 9 leaderboards, from which 5 are legacy and my 4 new ones are not listed (also it comes in a very old design). New players will score in the 4 new leaderboards but I need to remove the top score which was the developer score, to give them a chance, but the new leaderboards are not accessible.

Support for clock() shader instruction in MSL similar to VK_KHR_shader_clock instructions
Hi, seems MSL is missing support for a clock() shader instruction available in other graphics APIs like Vulkan or OpenGL for example.. useful for counting cost in number of clock cycles of some code insider shader with much finer granularity than launching a micro kernel with same instructions and measuring cycles cost from CPU.. also useful for MoltenVK to support that extensions.. thanks..

Can I use metal shader if I use RealityKit to build a VisionOS app?
I asked AI to build a realistic ocean shader for a VisionOS project using RealityKit. It gave a bunch instructions and asked me to connect large amount of nodes for the ShaderGraph in the Reality Composer Pro. I am just wondering if AI can help to generate the Metal shader code directly, or build the ShaderGraph nodes for me automatically.

Game Porting Toolkit installation fails: CMake compatibility error in game-porting-toolkit-compiler
I'm encountering a build failure when trying to install the Game Porting Toolkit via Homebrew. The installation fails during the game-porting-toolkit-compiler dependency build phase with a CMake compatibility error. Error Message: CMake Error at CMakeLists.txt:3 (cmake_minimum_required): Compatibility with CMake < 3.5 has been removed from CMake. Update the VERSION argument <min> value. Or, use the <min>...<max> syntax to tell CMake that the project requires at least <min> but has been updated to work with policies introduced by <max> or earlier. Or, add -DCMAKE_POLICY_VERSION_MINIMUM=3.5 to try configuring anyway. -- Configuring incomplete, errors occurred! Environment: macOS: 15.6.1 (Sequoia) Homebrew: 5.0.1 CMake: 3.20.2 Architecture: x86_64 (via Rosetta) Formula: apple/apple/game-porting-toolkit-compiler v0.1 Source: crossover-sources-22.1.1.tar.gz Steps to Reproduce: Install x86_64 Homebrew for Rosetta compatibility Run: arch -x86_64 /usr/local/bin/brew install apple/apple/game-porting-toolkit Build fails during dependency installation Root Cause: The LLVM/Clang sources included in crossover-sources-22.1.1.tar.gz contain a CMakeLists.txt file that specifies a minimum CMake version lower than 3.5. Modern CMake versions (3.5+) have removed backward compatibility with these older version requirements. Potential Solutions: Update the Homebrew formula to patch the CMakeLists.txt with cmake_minimum_required(VERSION 3.5) or higher Update to newer CrossOver sources with updated CMake requirements Add the -DCMAKE_POLICY_VERSION_MINIMUM=3.5 flag to the CMake build command in the formula Is this a known issue? Are there plans to update the formula or the source package to resolve this compatibility problem? Any guidance on a workaround would be appreciated. Full log available at: /Users/kentarovadney/Library/Logs/Homebrew/game-porting-toolkit-compiler/02.cmake.log Thanks for any assistance!

Why does game mode not get triggered for my App?
I think I really have tried everything and I did all according to official documentation to support game mode on iOS or iPadOS but it doesn't matter what I do it just doesn't get triggered. Funny enough it works during development when I install it via Xcode but as soon as it is live on the store and when I install it from there game mode doesn't get triggered anymore. What I have atm I have added (even though it is deprecated) <key>GCSupportsGameMode</key> <true/> I have set the (but it seems only supported for macOS) <key>LSApplicationCategoryType</key> <string>public.app-category.games</string> I have added <key>LSSupportsGameMode</key> <true/> It just doesn't work. Is there anything else what needs to be done? Should the flag LSSupportsGameMode not be enough normally? The reason why this is so annoying is that my app is a real time streaming app and I want to profit from minimised background activities for smoother gameplay and more consistent frame rates like mentioned in the documentation.

macOS 26 Games app – Achievement description shows incorrect text before unlocking
Hello, I found an issue with the Games app on macOS 26 (Tahoe) when viewing achievements: In App Store Connect, each achievement has different values set for the pre-earned description and the post-earned description. When testing with GameKit directly (GKAchievementDescription), both values are returned correctly. However, in the macOS Games app, the post-earned description is shown even before the achievement is earned. This seems to be a display issue specific to the Games app on macOS. Could you confirm if this is a known bug in the Games app, or if there is a reason why pre-earned descriptions are not being shown? Thank you.

Equivalent in RealityKit of SceneKit's SCNAction.customAction to run custom animation
I'm currently converting my game from SceneKit to RealityKit. What's the easiest way to run an animation in which every frame I want to run custom code, similar to SCNAction.customAction which accepts a callback that is called repeatedly until the action completes?

Thank you.
