Blocker: Registering simulator runtime with CoreSimulator failed.
Hello, FWIW I've been developing enterprise iOS apps going on 10 years and haven't seen a bug like this. It's a major blocker. Any advice is welcome. Pulled latest from my team's repository . I ran into a build issue. Reinstalled cocoa pods, resolved swift packages, cleared cache, and then tried to update my iOS simulators... Since then, everything is bricked. Can't side load an app or download a simulator. When I try to download simulator, as suggested by Xcode, I receive the following error: Registering simulator runtime with CoreSimulator failed. Microphone is not being detected in Safari on iOS
What I am trying to do is very simple. Environment description: macOS Catalina version 10.15.7 iOS Simulator version 12.3 Target device iPhone 11 (iOS 13.2.2) Open Safari > go to website > mictests.com Result: "Could not find any media devices. It is very likely that your browser does not allow access to these devices." The Simulator does have access to the microphone. I can use Siri just fine. Only Safari cannot access the mic. I'm really stuck here, any ideas are welcome.

Questions about Deployment Targets in Xcode
The “Deployment Targets” for iOS was IOS12 or higher in Xcode15, but is now listed as IOS15 or higher in Xcode16. https://aninterestingwebsite.com/support/xcode/ How does this change affect developers and users? For example, if a developer specifies less than iOS15 in the “iOS Deployment Target” on Xcode, how will this affect them? Also, will users under iOS 15 be unable to run the apps?

Best strategy to embed multiple dylibs into frameworks
Hi, I compiled Intel Open Image Denoise library for iOS, and obtained a bunch of dependent dylibs. I want to use these ones in a swift project (via bridging as this is C/C++) targeting the iPad. I understand that it is required to embed these dylibs into frameworks as iOS doesn't allow dylib. Is it necessary to generate one framework for each dylib? If so, how are dependencies between the libraries (and their frameworks) managed? Or, is it possible to generate only one framework embeding all the dependencies?

AR Camera Freezes in Split View on iPad (Vuforia + Unity + iOS 16+)
Hi everyone, We're developing an AR app using Unity with Vuforia for object detection. Our app works well in full-screen mode, including detection and post-detection phases. However, we're facing a specific issue in iPad Split View multitasking mode. Problem: The AR camera (Vuforia-based) freezes during object detection if another app is opened in Split View. Post-detection, everything works fine in Split View. The problem only occurs during detection. Testing Environment: iPadOS 16+ Unity with Vuforia plugin Using EnableMultitaskingCameraAccess() method with AVFoundation to support camera multitasking AR scene is set up properly with detection capabilities in full-screen

Xcode JSONDecoder playground fails with 'The LLDB RPC server has crashed.
If I create a playground project that uses a JSONDecoder I get the following error. The LLDB RPC Server has crashed. The crash log is located at ~/Library/Logs/DiagnosticReports and has a prefix 'lldb-rpc-server'. Please file a bug and attach the most recent crash log. I have raised feedback for this, FB17702087, but I hope that there may be a workaround. The code I am using to try and get this to work is from The Apple Developer Documentation - JSON Decoder var greeting = "JSON Test 3" struct GroceryProduct: Codable { var name: String var points: Int var description: String? } let json = """ { "name": "Durian", "points": 600, "description": "A fruit with a distinctive scent." } """.data(using: .utf8)! let decoder = JSONDecoder() let product = try decoder.decode(GroceryProduct.self, from: json) print(product.name) // Prints "Durian" A screenshot of the playground showing the error The crash log (the file type has been changed to txt as ips file types cannot be selected for upload. lldb-rpc-server-2025-05-28-140832.txt

app not playing audio when not in focus
My app works fine when I load it directly from Xcode to my phone via USB but once I load it to TestFlight the sounds no longer play when the app is not in focus or the phone is locked. I've tried every combination of tools available from the support group and from AI! And I'm out of ideas.

xcode 16.3 now not selecting correct Signing Certificate with Automatically Manage Signing Selected
HI, I upgraded to macos 15.5 and xcode 16.3. Last year I was able to update one of my apps on the App Store without issues. Today, after a successful Testflight test, I now need to submit a new version of my app to the App Store for Distribution as the next version/build. However, when I configure a manual setting for the signing, I can select the correct choices. But when I click automatically manage signing, and choose the correct team, xcode put in the wrong signing certificate. It is choose a development one, and not the distribution one. I am concerned about this since I have read that when using the Archive tool, it choses the automatically manage signing by default. And that check box is selecting the "default" settings. I do not know where these default settings are being set, or how to fix this issue. I do not see any info in my searching up to this point. I hope someone can help. thank you, cc

Hi, first time question. I have a game app that I am trying to include google ads on: import GoogleMobileAds I have the following bit of code: init() { GADMobileAds.sharedInstance().start(completionHandler: { _ in print("✅ AdMob started successfully") }) } That is throwing the following error: OliviasGameApp.swift:9:22 Cannot call value of non-function type 'MobileAds' I have gone through countless troubleshooting, including transitioning to Pods. Is there any help on what I can do to resolve this issue?

Xcode has high CPU usage when apparently doing nothing for hours
In 2020 I created FB7719215, which I updated several times (including just now) and in 2021 I created FB9204092, but the issue is still there: when I keep Xcode open (currently version 16.3), my battery drains much quicker, even when it's apparently idle. For instance, today I barely did anything in Xcode, but still it has been at a constant 90% CPU for the last hours, and I keep checking the battery percentage to check how much time I have left. Does anyone at Apple has an explanation, workaround and/or fix?

Stale Issues, refreshAllObjects() is not working
Hi Experts, Could you please help. Issue at high level: After Editing a View contains a Table entries, saved and hit back button to display View, Table entries are duplicated or displaying previous and current entries together. Here is my Issue in detailed. List view display, clicking on any row, would navigate to DisplayView of a record. I am displaying a table in DisplayView. DisplayView contains "row" as parameter, and it must be initialized in "init" method, where I use row.key and fetch another table (say ColorTab) using Color.Key. DisplayView contains "NavigationView", with Edit button. it displays fetched Colors. example Red and Green. when user click on Edit, it takes to EditPage. user can remove / add colors. Once user made changes, saved and hit back button. Table entries are duplicated or showing previous and current entries. Options tried, a) init method is only triggering 1st time, not triggering when back button clicked, I failed to use FetchRequest outside of init method, I tried on OnAppear too. i didn't trigger. b) Failed to use FetchRequest inside of var Body too. c) tried using viewContext.refreshAllObjects() .. it is not refreshing the table. Could you please help if there is solution for the issue. Thanks, Bhanu

Mac (Designed for iPad) not been able to install on Mac testflight
Hi I developed an iPhone app but now I want to release the same app for iPad and Mac (Design for iPad). I made the changes below but I still not been able to install the app on my Mac. It says the app is incompatible but my Mac is MacBook Pro M2 which fills the requirements to install it. Things I did so my iPhone app could have support for iPad and Mac Added iPad and Mac (Designed for iPad) for the supported destinations Change the Status Bar Style to Require full screen Changed iOS minimum Deployments iOS to 17.6 Updated the launch screen logo so stays in the middle Xcode version 16.2 See the sccreenshots of the Xcode configuration and of the TestFlight on my MacBook Pro M2 Is there anything else I need to do? Thanks.

Entitlements Issue: Fonts Provided by Application Still Showing as Missing in Xcode
Hi everyone, I’ve been struggling with an issue related to the com.apple.developer.fonts-provided-by-application entitlement in Xcode. Despite configuring everything correctly, I’m still encountering an error stating that the fonts provided by application are missing. Here’s a breakdown of what I’ve done so far: Entitlements File: My entitlements file includes the com.apple.developer.fonts-provided-by-application key set as an array with 28 font items listed (e.g., Lato-Bold.ttf, Montserrat-SemiBold.ttf, etc.). All font names match the actual filenames, including extensions, and are spelled correctly. Info.plist: I’ve listed all the fonts under the UIAppFonts key, and they match the entries in the entitlements file. Font Files in Xcode: All font files are present in my project and included in Build Phases > Copy Bundle Resources. Provisioning Profile: The Fonts capability is enabled in my App Identifier in the Apple Developer Program, and I’ve regenerated my provisioning profile to ensure it reflects this entitlement. What’s Working: Other entitlements in the entitlements file (like keychain access and sandboxing) are functioning correctly, so the entitlements file is linked properly to my app target. The provisioning profile shows everything else is in sync. What’s Not Working: Xcode consistently shows the error "missing fonts provided by application", even though I’ve verified the fonts, file paths, and plist entries multiple times. Questions: Could this issue be related to the placement of the fonts folder within my project structure? Do I need to remove unused fonts or adjust file extensions (like .ttf vs .otf)? Is there another step I might be missing in Xcode or the Apple Developer Program? Any guidance would be greatly appreciated. This has been a challenging problem to resolve, and I’d love to hear from anyone who has encountered something similar.

How can I add a folder to my app's bundle
In previous Xcode versions, it was possible to add a folder reference to a project, and in the copy resources build phase it would copy the folder the bundle, rather than the contents (i.e. the folder's contents would be nested inside a directory named after the folder). In Xcode 16.4, when creating a folder reference, the copy resources build phase will copy the contents of the folder to the bundle at the root level (not nested), like the old behavior when creating a group rather than a folder reference. If you look at the raw project.pbxproj file, it shows up as a "File System Synchronized Root Group" rather than a "File Reference". Is there a way to get the old behavior, aside from hand-editing the project.pbxproj file?

Standard Memory Debugging Tools
In many cases I’ll be talking to folks with a memory management problem and I’ll say “You should investigate this with the standard memory debugging tools.” They then turn around and ask me “What are those tools?” Well, this is what I mean: Zombies — This lets you quickly detect when an object is used after it’s been deallocated. Learn more about it in the Finding zombies section of the Instruments Help and in Investigating crashes for zombie objects. There was also an excellent WWDC video about this, namely, WWDC 2010 Session 311 Advanced Memory Analysis with Instruments. This is no longer available in the video archive but if you can find a copy it’s well worth a watch. Address Sanitizer — This is a lower-level tool that finds a variety of common memory management issues, including use after free and buffer overruns. Learn more about this in Diagnosing memory, thread, and crash issues early and the various articles it links to. There’s also a good discussion of this tool, and other Xcode runtime diagnostic tools, in WWDC 2017 Session 406 Finding Bugs Using Xcode Runtime Tools (also no longer available from Apple). Hardware memory tagging — If you have access to a device with hardware memory tagging — starting with the A19 or M5 processors — consider enabling Memory Integrity Enforcement (MIE). For the details, see Enabling enhanced security for your app or watch Secure your app with Memory Integrity Enforcement. Even if you don’t want to do that for your production app, enable it just for development by checking Hardware Memory Tagging in the Options tab of Xcode’s scheme editor. Older tools — There are a variety of older tools that might be useful in some specific circumstances. See the Enabling the Malloc Debugging Features section of the Memory Usage Performance Guidelines for more information about these. Of specific interest is libgmalloc, which is documented in a UNIX man page. For some practical examples of how to identity a memory management crash report and then investigate that crash with these tools, take a look at WWDC 2018 Session 414 Understanding Crashes and Crash Logs. Share and Enjoy — Quinn “The Eskimo!” @ Developer Technical Support @ Apple let myEmail = "eskimo" + "1" + "@" + "apple.com" Revision History: 2026-03-02 Added a discussion of hardware memory tagging. 2023-05-09 Added a link to Investigating crashes for zombie objects. 2023-03-22 Removed another WWDC session video link. Made minor editorial changes. 2020-10-23 Fixed some formatting errors. 2019-10-30 Removed the link to WWDC 2010 Session 311 Advanced Memory Analysis with Instruments because it’s not long available in the archive. Refreshed all the other links. 2019-01-22 Fixed the link to libgmalloc. 2018-11-02 Updated to include a reference to WWDC 2018 Session 414 Understanding Crashes and Crash Logs. 2017-11-16 First posted.

Errors compiling C++ code for x86_64
I have a project (that uses pre-compiled headers) that uses different compiler options for SOME files. For those files I have this is in my CMakelists.txt: if(CMAKE_C_COMPILER_ID MATCHES "GNU|Clang") set_source_files_properties(${AVX_Files} PROPERTIES COMPILE_OPTIONS "-mavx;-mavx2;-mfma;-mssse3;-msse4.2") set_source_files_properties(avx_simd_check.cpp PROPERTIES COMPILE_OPTIONS "-mxsave") endif() When I build for ARM, it all works :) When I try to build for X86_64, I get the following error for avx_simd_check.cpp: error: current translation unit is compiled with the target feature '+xsave' but the AST file was not 1 error generated. and for all the other files in question: error: current translation unit is compiled with the target feature '+avx' but the AST file was not error: current translation unit is compiled with the target feature '+avx2' but the AST file was not error: current translation unit is compiled with the target feature '+fma' but the AST file was not error: current translation unit is compiled with the target feature '+sse4.2' but the AST file was not error: current translation unit is compiled with the target feature '+ssse3' but the AST file was not 5 errors generated. Xcode 16.3 Compile fails
After updating to 16.3, my project now fails to compile with the diagnostic: "Command SwiftCompile failed with a nonzero exit code". This is a SwiftUI document project with two local packages, the second of which is a rather large one with 112 SwiftUI files. It is this second package that is failing. There are no issues when compiling with 16.2. Without diagnostics I'm having a bit of difficulty in determining the cause. My thought is to regress the commits unit 16.3 gives a success, or shows issues. Although I'm not catching a similar issue in the forums, I'm seeing other problems with 16.3. Has anyone else had such build failure isolated to 16.3? Any advice on other ways to approach this problem? Thanks in advance

How can I solve this please? David
