iOS companion app with no Watch connected
Based on Cooordinate with the companion app in this article by Apple https://aninterestingwebsite.com/documentation/healthkit/running-workout-sessions if a workout were to be started on the iPhone companion app but with no Watch available, given HKLiveWorkoutBuilder not available in iOS, does the iPhone app need to implement it's own workout tracking such as a timer for counting the elapsed time and location updates for distance and GPS tracking? If so in an instance where a paired Apple Watch were to exist and the workout is continued in the Watch app should the iPhone companion app stop this custom workout tracking and revert to the mirrored workout from the Watch to ensure accurate and synchronised data between the apps?

Apple Maps URL scheme daddr=lat,long no longer working – regression?
Hello, I'm experiencing an issue with the Apple Maps URL scheme when using raw latitude and longitude coordinates in the daddr parameter. Until recently, using a URL like this worked reliably: https://maps.apple.com/?daddr=37.7749,-122.4194 This would open Apple Maps and show directions from the current location to the specified coordinates. However, on recent iOS versions, this URL no longer behaves as expected.

PTT Framework Restrictions
We are attempting to update our app to use the PTT framework, as it has been made clear that this will be required in a future iOS version as opposed to using the Unrestricted VoIP entitlement we are using for several features of our app. However, the behavior of this framework poses some problems with implementing our app's functionality: It is not possible to programmatically join a channel when the app is not in the foreground. This hinders our ability to implement the Automatically activate radio stream feature of our app, which allows users who have opted into this feature to immediately begin hearing live PTT audio from their agency following an incident alert. Having the app constantly "joined to a channel" and using the restoration delegate could potentially work, however this is not ideal as this would result in the PTT UI needing to be displayed at all times, even when no radio stream is activated. We have a "Text to Speech" option that, when enabled, reads out the content of an incident alert after the alert sound has played. This currently happens by triggering an AVSpeechSynthesizer in the PushKit incoming push callback. It may be possible to render TTS audio on the fly in a Notification Service Extension and assign it as the notification's sound, if that is possible this is less of a problem. We also use the PushKit callback to, again if the user has enabled it, activate a "Shake to Respond" feature, allowing a short period of time after receiving an incident alert in which the user can shake their device to indicate that they are responding to the incident. There does not appear to be any way to have the level of background execution required to implement this using an NSE, and this is of course beyond the scope of the PTT framework. What options do we have to be able to continue to provide this functionality, without risk of it being disabled in a future iOS version?

LocalDictionary spelling adding words
Sorry if topic is not exact. I write Ainu in various Roman Latin scripts on English GUI Catalina ,Text Edit. The Ainu words are similar to English ex. 'an' in Ainu is 'exist' ,Ainu Language exists 'Ne Ainu itak an ',so spell checker will not red dot many words also some Ainu words look like other foreign words. I open LocalDictionary and find it blank ,so I open TextEdit and open show spelling grammar 100 words out of 200 are red dotted !the others are not learned, so I press' learn' and it skips to some words not Allan after 100 it stops ,then I go to LocalDictionary and see all those words alphabetical order ,! great ! but what about the rest ? why does select half of the words and /part/ of a phrase/ 'Itak a-e-yay-/han-nok-kar-a' = to study language by oneself.

[iOS] Location data no longer updating consistently after updating the app from old version
I am developing an iOS app that uses CLLocationManager to collect location continuously in both foreground and background. But it has the following 4 issues and I don’t understand why: After a while of not using the app, I can not get location updates regularly. Even after that, I go into the app more often or even turn OFF and turn ON the permission again, but the problem still doesn’t improve until I reinstall the app. Previously, I used SilentLog SDK to collect location. Since the cost was quite high, we developed our own SDK that also handles location tracking. After updating the app from the old version using SilentLog SDK to the new version using my own SDK, I can not get location updates regularly. However, when I reinstalled the app, it worked perfectly. It seems that apps downloaded from TestFlight can get location more continuously than apps downloaded from the App Store We sometimes encounter this error in the logs: Error Domain=kCLErrorDomain Code=0 “(null)” I think my app was not terminated in the background because I still collect location but it is not as frequent. I want to know if Apple has any mechanism to prevent such apps from getting location data continuously? I use CLLocationManager with the following configuration: self.locationManager.distanceFilter = 20 self.locationManager.desiredAccuracy = kCLLocationAccuracyBest self.locationManager.allowsBackgroundLocationUpdates = true self.locationManager.showsBackgroundLocationIndicator = false self.locationManager.pausesLocationUpdatesAutomatically = false I also filter the location updates using: guard let location = locations.last else { return } guard location.horizontalAccuracy <= 100 else { return } guard location.speedAccuracy >= 0 else { return } I use a background task to wake up the device every 15 minutes, and I also use silent push notifications in a similar manner. Each time the task is executed, I usually call stopLocation and then startLocation again. This happens quite frequently — will it have any impact or cause any issues?

[App Store Server Notifications] ONE_TIME_CHARGE production release...
Dear Apple! During WWDC24 you announced that ONE_TIME_CHARGE notification is available on the sandbox environment and will be available "it will be available in production later this year" - it's March 2025 and there is still no production release of this feature. Could you share some timeline and plans for when we can expect that feature deployed to production? Thanks in advance!

Sandbox Url Not Receiving App Store Server Notifications
I have an Expo React Native application and I am using react-native-iap library. I have setup the URL for sandbox and production url to receive notifications when a something happens regarding subscriptions. I am not able to receive those notifications when I simulate the purchase on the Simulator using Xcode. I then have used the node library app-store-server-library to mock a test notification and I am receiving the test notification when I call requestTestNotification method. below is the react-native code I am using: import {useEffect, useState} from "react"; import { initConnection, Sku, Subscription, useIAP, SubscriptionIOS, requestSubscription, PurchaseError, clearTransactionIOS } from "react-native-iap"; import styles from "@/screens/IAP/IAPStyles"; import CustomText from "@/components/CustomText"; import Heading from "@/components/Heading"; import subscriptionsProducts from "@/utilities/products"; function IAPScreen() { const [isPurchasing, setIsPurchasing] = useState<boolean>(false); const [loading, setLoading] = useState<boolean>(false); const { subscriptions, currentPurchase, finishTransaction, getSubscriptions } = useIAP(); function RenderProduct({ item } : { item: Subscription }) { const iosSubscription: SubscriptionIOS = item as SubscriptionIOS; return( <View style={styles.productCard}> <CustomText customStyles={styles.productTitle} text={iosSubscription.title} size={"medium"} /> <CustomText customStyles={styles.productDescription} text={iosSubscription.description} size={"small"} /> <CustomText customStyles={styles.productPrice} text={iosSubscription.localizedPrice} size={"small"} /> <Button title="Purchase" disabled={isPurchasing} onPress={ () => HandlePurchase(iosSubscription.productId) } /> </View> ); } async function HandlePurchase(sku: Sku) { try { setIsPurchasing(true); await requestSubscription({ sku, andDangerouslyFinishTransactionAutomaticallyIOS: false }); } catch (error: any) { Alert.alert("Error", "Failed to purchase: " + error.message); } finally { setIsPurchasing(false); } } useEffect(() => { setLoading(true); console.log(`[${new Date().toISOString()}] Initializing IAP connection...`); const setupIAP = async () => { try { const result = await initConnection(); console.log(`[${new Date().toISOString()}] IAP connection initialized:`, result); await clearTransactionIOS(); await getSubscriptions({ skus: subscriptionsProducts }); } catch (error: any) { Alert.alert("Error", "Failed to load products: " + error.message); } finally { setLoading(false); } }; setupIAP() .finally(() => setLoading(false)); }, []); useEffect(() => { const checkCurrentPurchase = async () => { try { if(currentPurchase?.productId) { console.log("Current purchase: ", currentPurchase); console.log("Transaction Id: ", currentPurchase.transactionId); await finishTransaction({ purchase: currentPurchase, isConsumable: false, }); } } catch (error) { if(error instanceof PurchaseError) { console.log("Purchase error: ", error); } else { Alert.alert("Error", "Failed to finish transaction: " + error); } } } if(currentPurchase) { console.log("Finishing current purchase."); checkCurrentPurchase() .catch(error => Alert.alert("Error", "Failed to finish transaction: " + error.message)); } }, [currentPurchase, finishTransaction]); return( <View style={styles.mainContainer}> <Heading text={"Packages & Subscriptions"} type={"h2"} customStyles={styles.header} /> { loading ? <ActivityIndicator size="large" /> : subscriptions.length > 0 ? I would be really thankful If you can help me in this matter.

How to register ContactProviderDomain
Hi there, we are implementing the new ContactProviderExtension introduced in iOS 18 and we are able to activate the extension, add data and everything. But we want to add domains to seperate contacts and currently we are getting an error "ContactProvider.ContactProviderError.domainNotRegistered". That makes sense because in the API docu we are not finding a way to register our domains. We are using ContactProviderDomain to create domains but we are not able to find any function to register. Could you please give a hint? Thank you

Can I ask user to share his/her email id while doing
We sell magazines through a third party app platform called Pocketmags and our website. The magazines have Print, Digital and Combo options available for purchase. Also, this third party app provides the platform to read the digital version of the magazines. Once a user buys a subscription on the website, he/she receives the email with the login information on PocketMags, where he registers his login details and can start reading his subscription. With us, the customer shares his billing/shipping address along with their email id while they make payment. Now we have our own app where through which we want to sell these magazines and have to integrate In-App purchase for selling these digital subscriptions. How do we send the 3rd party subscription access details on email to the user if they do in app purchase?

Bonjour Connectivity Optimization
Hi folks, I'm building an iOS companion app to a local hosted server app (hosted on 0.0.0.0). The MacOS app locally connects to this server hosted, and I took the approach of advertising the server using a Daemon and BonjourwithTXT(for port) and then net service to resolve a local name. Unfortunately if there's not enough time given after the iPhone/iPad is plugged in (usb or ethernet), the app will cycle through attempts and disconnects many times before connecting and I'm trying to find a way to only connect when a viable en interface is available. I've run into a weird thing in which the en interface only becomes seen on the NWMonitor after multiple connection attempts have been made and failed. If I screen for en before connecting it simply never appears. Is there any way to handle this such that my app can intelligently wait for an en connection before trying to connect? Attaching my code although I have tried a few other setups but none has been perfect. func startMonitoringAndBrowse() { DebugLogger.shared.append("Starting Bonjour + Ethernet monitoring") if !browserStarted { let params = NWParameters.tcp params.includePeerToPeer = false params.requiredInterfaceType = .wiredEthernet browser = NWBrowser(for: .bonjourWithTXTRecord(type: "_mytcpapp._tcp", domain: nil), using: params) browser?.stateUpdateHandler = { state in if case .ready = state { DebugLogger.shared.append("Bonjour browser ready.") } } browser?.browseResultsChangedHandler = { results, _ in self.handleBrowseResults(results) } browser?.start(queue: .main) browserStarted = true } // Start monitoring for wired ethernet monitor = NWPathMonitor() monitor?.pathUpdateHandler = { path in let hasEthernet = path.availableInterfaces.contains { $0.type == .wiredEthernet } let ethernetInUse = path.usesInterfaceType(.wiredEthernet) DebugLogger.shared.append(""" NWPathMonitor: - Status: \(path.status) - Interfaces: \(path.availableInterfaces.map { "\($0.name)[\($0.type)]" }.joined(separator: ", ")) - Wired Ethernet: \(hasEthernet), In Use: \(ethernetInUse) """) self.tryToConnectIfReady() self.stopMonitoring() } monitor?.start(queue: monitorQueue) } // MARK: - Internal Logic private func handleBrowseResults(_ results: Set<NWBrowser.Result>) { guard !self.isResolving, !self.hasResolvedService else { return } for result in results { guard case let .bonjour(txtRecord) = result.metadata, let portString = txtRecord["actual_port"], let actualPort = Int(portString), case let .service(name, type, domain, _) = result.endpoint else { continue } DebugLogger.shared.append("Bonjour result — port: \(actualPort)") self.resolvedPort = actualPort self.isResolving = true self.resolveWithNetService(name: name, type: type, domain: domain) break } } private func resolveWithNetService(name: String, type: String, domain: String) { let netService = NetService(domain: domain, type: type, name: name) netService.delegate = self netService.includesPeerToPeer = false netService.resolve(withTimeout: 5.0) resolvingNetService = netService DebugLogger.shared.append("Resolving NetService: \(name).\(type)\(domain)") } private func tryToConnectIfReady() { guard hasResolvedService, let host = resolvedHost, let port = resolvedPort else { return } DebugLogger.shared.append("Attempting to connect: \(host):\(port)") discoveredIP = host discoveredPort = port connectionPublisher.send(.connecting(ip: host, port: port)) stopBrowsing() socketManager.connectToServer(ip: host, port: port) hasResolvedService = false } } // MARK: - NetServiceDelegate extension BonjourManager: NetServiceDelegate { func netServiceDidResolveAddress(_ sender: NetService) { guard let hostname = sender.hostName else { DebugLogger.shared.append("Resolved service with no hostname") return } DebugLogger.shared.append("Resolved NetService hostname: \(hostname)") resolvedHost = hostname isResolving = false hasResolvedService = true tryToConnectIfReady() } func netService(_ sender: NetService, didNotResolve errorDict: [String : NSNumber]) { DebugLogger.shared.append("NetService failed to resolve: \(errorDict)") } }

SwiftData and @Query to find all records for the current date of a multidatepicker (Set = [])
I’m trying to build a CRUD app using SwiftData, @Query model and multidatepicker. The data from a multidatepicker is stored or persists in SwiftData as Set = []. My current dilemma is how to use SwiftData and @Query model Predicate to find all records on the current date. I can’t find any SwiftData documentation or examples @Query using Set = []. My CRUD app should retrieve all records for the current date. Unfortunately, I don’t know the correct @Query model syntax for Set = [].

Carplay not read incoming chat message like whats app.
We have implemented Carplay in our voip based project and in this we have implemented Incoming call and chat notification feature for Carplay. For Carplay we implemented siri. Siri Object donated Successfully in Notification service Extension when notification didreceive method called. Donation Code :- func donateIncomingMessageIntent(sender: String, senderId: String, message: String, messageId: String, userInfo: [AnyHashable: Any],destination:String) { // Create proper name components clearAllinteraction() var nameComponents = PersonNameComponents() nameComponents.givenName = sender //unknown let senderPerson = INPerson( personHandle: INPersonHandle(value: senderId, type: .unknown), nameComponents: nameComponents, displayName: sender, image: nil, contactIdentifier: senderId, customIdentifier: "sender_\(senderId)" ) let recipientPerson = INPerson( personHandle: INPersonHandle(value: "me@example.com", type: .emailAddress), nameComponents: nil, displayName: "Me", image: nil, contactIdentifier: "me_id", customIdentifier: "user_id" ) let inMessage = INMessage( identifier: messageId, conversationIdentifier: "conversation_\(senderId)", content: message, dateSent: Date(), sender: senderPerson, recipients: [recipientPerson], groupName: nil, messageType: .text ) let intent = INSearchForMessagesIntent( recipients: [recipientPerson], senders: [senderPerson], searchTerms: [message], attributes: .unread, dateTime: nil, identifiers: [messageId], notificationIdentifiers: [messageId], groupNames: ["Messages"] ) let interaction = INInteraction(intent: intent, response: nil) interaction.identifier = "message_\(messageId)" interaction.direction = .incoming // Add direction DispatchQueue.global(qos: .userInitiated).async { interaction.donate { error in if let error = error { print("❌ Failed to donate INSearchForMessagesIntent: \(error.localizedDescription)") } else { print("✅ Donated INSearchForMessagesIntent successfully!") let intentData: [String: Any] = [ "senderName": sender, "senderId": senderId, "message": message, "messageId": messageId, "timestamp": Date().timeIntervalSince1970, "conversationId": "conversation_\(senderId)", // Add conversationId "destination":destination ] let defaults = UserDefaults(suiteName: "group.com.chatapp") // 🔁 Use your App Group ID defaults?.removeObject(forKey: "lastCarPlayIntentData") defaults?.set(intentData, forKey: "lastCarPlayIntentData") defaults?.synchronize() } } } } Here SenderID is like 3000@abc,2000@abc etc. In siri ,When we handle INSearchForMessagesIntent at that time all data getting from Userdefaults because without Userdefaults INSearchForMessagesIntent value nil. Even we enabled announcement using .allowAnnouncement. We also tried to save same sender in contact Book because sometime siri search contact and not found then may be raise this type of issue. So we need code level support for read incoming message in carplay when notification comes. Thank you.

How is Security Delay still so broken?
I'm sitting at my house and trying to sign my test device out of my apple ID so I can sign into a Sandbox user, but now I have an hour to kill because of this terribly broken "security" feature that thinks it's in an unfamiliar location, despite being at the only location it's ever known. Looks like I'll just be disabling this feature all together. Especially as a device with Developer Mode enabled, which gets reset regularly, there should be additional options here. Come on!

Is there a delay or problem at the OS end during subsequent jack connections if IOS is running a Bluetooth and beacon connection and it stays without a connection for a few hours?

Hi folks, I'm building an iOS companion app to a local hosted server app (hosted on 0.0.0.0). The MacOS app locally connects to this server hosted, and I took the approach of advertising the server using a Daemon and BonjourwithTXT(for port) and then net service to resolve a local name. Unfortunately if there's not enough time given after the iPhone/iPad is plugged in (usb or ethernet), the app will cycle through attempts and disconnects many times before connecting and I'm trying to find a way to only connect when a viable en interface is available. I've run into a weird thing in which the en interface only becomes seen on the NWMonitor after multiple connection attempts have been made and failed. If I screen for en before connecting it simply never appears. Is there any way to handle this such that my app can intelligently wait for an en connection before trying to connect? Attaching my code although I have tried a few other setups but none has been perfect. func startMonitoringAndBrowse() { DebugLogger.shared.append("Starting Bonjour + Ethernet monitoring") if !browserStarted { let params = NWParameters.tcp params.includePeerToPeer = false params.requiredInterfaceType = .wiredEthernet browser = NWBrowser(for: .bonjourWithTXTRecord(type: "_mytcpapp._tcp", domain: nil), using: params) browser?.stateUpdateHandler = { state in if case .ready = state { DebugLogger.shared.append("Bonjour browser ready.") } } browser?.browseResultsChangedHandler = { results, _ in self.handleBrowseResults(results) } browser?.start(queue: .main) browserStarted = true } // Start monitoring for wired ethernet monitor = NWPathMonitor() monitor?.pathUpdateHandler = { path in let hasEthernet = path.availableInterfaces.contains { $0.type == .wiredEthernet } let ethernetInUse = path.usesInterfaceType(.wiredEthernet) DebugLogger.shared.append(""" NWPathMonitor: - Status: \(path.status) - Interfaces: \(path.availableInterfaces.map { "\($0.name)[\($0.type)]" }.joined(separator: ", ")) - Wired Ethernet: \(hasEthernet), In Use: \(ethernetInUse) """) self.tryToConnectIfReady() self.stopMonitoring() } monitor?.start(queue: monitorQueue) } // MARK: - Internal Logic private func handleBrowseResults(_ results: Set<NWBrowser.Result>) { guard !self.isResolving, !self.hasResolvedService else { return } for result in results { guard case let .bonjour(txtRecord) = result.metadata, let portString = txtRecord["actual_port"], let actualPort = Int(portString), case let .service(name, type, domain, _) = result.endpoint else { continue } DebugLogger.shared.append("Bonjour result — port: \(actualPort)") self.resolvedPort = actualPort self.isResolving = true self.resolveWithNetService(name: name, type: type, domain: domain) break } } private func resolveWithNetService(name: String, type: String, domain: String) { let netService = NetService(domain: domain, type: type, name: name) netService.delegate = self netService.includesPeerToPeer = false netService.resolve(withTimeout: 5.0) resolvingNetService = netService DebugLogger.shared.append("Resolving NetService: \(name).\(type)\(domain)") } private func tryToConnectIfReady() { guard hasResolvedService, let host = resolvedHost, let port = resolvedPort else { return } DebugLogger.shared.append("Attempting to connect: \(host):\(port)") discoveredIP = host discoveredPort = port connectionPublisher.send(.connecting(ip: host, port: port)) stopBrowsing() socketManager.connectToServer(ip: host, port: port) hasResolvedService = false } } // MARK: - NetServiceDelegate extension BonjourManager: NetServiceDelegate { func netServiceDidResolveAddress(_ sender: NetService) { guard let hostname = sender.hostName else { DebugLogger.shared.append("Resolved service with no hostname") return } DebugLogger.shared.append("Resolved NetService hostname: \(hostname)") resolvedHost = hostname isResolving = false hasResolvedService = true tryToConnectIfReady() } func netService(_ sender: NetService, didNotResolve errorDict: [String : NSNumber]) { DebugLogger.shared.append("NetService failed to resolve: \(errorDict)") } }

Come on!
