StoreKit2: .purchase() not working after expiry of subscription in app, but renewing in AppStore sandbox does...
Hi, thanks for reading my question. I need help with some odd behaviour with product.purchase() not triggering a confirmation dialog after a subscription has expired and trying to purchase it again. Seeing this in iOS 16.2 and 15.7.2 (haven't tried any other versions) on actual devices, not in simulator. I'm using a sandbox user on the sandbox environment (not using the local store kit config file testing option). Using a newly created sandbox user, first subscription purchase goes through just fine, dialog box pops up, login with sandbox user, get confirmation of purchase and then Transaction.currentEntitlements has one item as expected. It auto renews for 12 times (each time Transaction.currentEntitlements contains the correct results) and then expires, as expected for sandbox. Transaction.currentEntitlements is then also empty, as expected. All good so far. Now I want to test purchasing it again...Call product.purchase() again to renew/start a new subscription and nothing happens, no confirm purchase dialog box pops up at all. The purchase function simply exits BUT returns success (as in the following gets called) but in self.updatePurchasedProducts(), Transaction.currentEntitlements is empty. case let .success(.verified(transaction)):      // Successful purchase       await transaction.finish()      await self.updatePurchasedProducts() if I instead go to Settings->App Store->Sandbox User-> Manage Subscriptions and renew the subscription there, instead of in my app, then Transaction.currentEntitlements has a new entry and all is good again. Alternatively, if I create yet another new sandbox user and logout of the old one I was using, I am once again able to purchase from within the app, so .purchase() once again works as normal. Is there something I am missing about expired subscriptions and trying to purchase them again in the app? Is this a sandbox issue and in production I'll have no problem? The sandbox user has purchasing enabled in Settings->App Store. I've also tried calling AppStore.sync() (which is in my "Restore Purchase" button) before calling product.purchase() after the subscription stops renewing, expires and this issue comes up, doesn't resolve it. Also have a less important question, the initial call to product.purchase(), the one that works as expected, has a bit of a delay before the confirmation dialog pops up, a few seconds, which will probably result in the user clicking the buy button again thinking it didn't work. Is a bit of a delay normal for sandbox? Will it be ok in production? When it fails, and I have to renew in Settings->AppStore->Sandbox user, there's also a bit of a delay after I return to my app, 5-15 or so seconds, before the transaction observer fires and currentEntitlements is checked again, is there a way to reduce this delay? Thank you! Colin @MainActor class IAPManager: NSObject, ObservableObject {  // removed other functions.....   func purchase(_ product: Product) async throws {    let result = try await product.purchase()     switch result {    case let .success(.verified(transaction)):      // Successful purchase       await transaction.finish()      await self.updatePurchasedProducts()    case let .success(.unverified(_, error)):       break     case .pending:       break     case .userCancelled:       break     @unknown default:       break   } }  func updatePurchasedProducts() async {     for await result in Transaction.currentEntitlements {       guard case .verified(let transaction) = result else {         continue       }       if transaction.revocationDate == nil {         self.purchasedProductIDs.insert(transaction.productID)       } else {         self.purchasedProductIDs.remove(transaction.productID)       }     }   } }

App Store Server API JWT Authentication Issue
Issue Description I am experiencing persistent 401 Unauthorized errors when attempting to access the App Store Server API using JWT authentication. Despite following Apple's documentation and regenerating keys, I am unable to successfully authenticate. Implementation Details I'm implementing JWT authentication for the App Store Server API to retrieve transaction information from the following endpoint: https://api.storekit.itunes.apple.com/inApps/v1/transactions/{transactionID} My JWT generation code (in PHP/Laravel) follows Apple's documentation: php$kid = '6W6H649LJ4'; $header = [ "alg" => "ES256", "kid" => $kid, "typ" => "JWT" ]; $iss = 'b8d99de7-b43b-4cbb-aada-546ec784e249'; // App Store Connect API Key Issuer ID $bid = 'com.gitiho.learnCourse'; // Bundle ID $payload = [ "iss" => $iss, "iat" => time(), "exp" => time() + 3600, "aud" => "appstoreconnect-v1", "bid" => $bid ]; $pathFileAuthKeyP8 = "AuthKey_6W6H649LJ4.p8"; $contentFileAuthKey = \File::get(base_path($pathFileAuthKeyP8)); $alg = "ES256"; $jwt = \Firebase\JWT\JWT::encode($payload, $contentFileAuthKey, $alg, null, $header); Steps Taken to Troubleshoot Verified that the Issuer ID is correct and in UUID format Confirmed that the Key ID matches the private key filename Regenerated the key with proper App Store Server API permissions Ensured the private key file is properly formatted with correct headers and footers Verified that the JWT is being properly encoded using the ES256 algorithm Confirmed the bundle ID is correct for our application Checked that the API endpoint URL is correct Additional Information This implementation previously worked correctly We started experiencing 401 errors recently without changing our implementation We are using the Firebase JWT library for PHP to encode the JWT Request Could you please help identify what might be causing these authentication failures? Is there any recent change in the authentication requirements or endpoint URLs that might be affecting our integration? Thanks for support me.

Is that possible to allocate virtual memory space between 0~4GB?
I tried to use the following code to get a virtual address within 4GB memory space int size = 4 * 1024; int flags = MAP_PRIVATE | MAP_ANONYMOUS | MAP_32BIT; void* addr = mmap(NULL, size, PROT_READ | PROT_WRITE, flags, -1, 0); I also tried MAP_FIXED and pass an address for the first argument of mmap. However neither of them can get what I want. Is there a way to get a virtual memory address within 4GB on arm64 on MacOS?

What can cause Sleep transition timed out kernel panics
Hello guys, We are receiving feedbacks from various users facing kernel panics when using one of our products. Our analysis of the crash reports shows that all panic traces report the exact same panic cause: Sleep transition timed out after 35 seconds while creating hibernation file or while calling rootDomain's clients about upcoming rootDomain's state changes. Various versions of MacOS are affected, including the latest ones. It seems obvious, with the user feedbacks we have, that our product plays a role in those KP. But we can seen on the forums that it is not specific to our users. Our product does use not-so-common APIs (it uses the EndpointSecurity API in AUTH mode for some events notalby), and it can have a pretty important IO activity on disk, with a memory footprint of multiple hundreds of MB. My understanding of hibernation is that when it happens, the applications are frozen (i.e. with no access to the CPU), and thus that no endpoint security event would be generated during the hibernation process. As a consequence, we did not implement any specific behavior for hibernation. Do you think it is a valid assumption ?

Clarification on Offer-Code Redemption When Streamlined Purchasing Is Turned Off
Background We sell a suite of iPadOS/macOS apps that share a single auto-renewable subscription using this architecture. Per “Offering a Subscription Across Multiple Apps” we require users to sign in before purchasing so we can propagate the entitlement and avoid duplicate subscriptions across apps. To enforce that sign-in step we plan to turn off Streamlined Purchasing in App Store Connect. Question We also want to distribute subscription offer codes (for promotion, retention, appeasing dissatisfied customers, etc.). After Streamlined Purchasing is turned off, will customers still be able to redeem offer codes outside the app (App Store “Redeem Code” UI or redemption URL)? If outside-app redemption remains possible, it bypasses our sign-in gate and could let the same customer buy the suite twice (once via each app). Is there an approved method to limit offer-code redemption to the in-app flow only, or otherwise prevent such duplicate subscriptions? If no such limitation exists, what best-practice workaround does Apple recommend for multi-app suites that must turn off Streamlined Purchasing yet still wish to use offer codes without duplication risk? Environment StoreKit 2; server-side receipt validation & cross-app entitlement propagation. Apps support the in-app presentCodeRedemptionSheet flow. We expect to use both one-time-use and custom offer codes.

Cannot enable Calldirectory Extension
Hello, I recently created an app with the Calldirectory Extension. It worked all good as long as I was on my development iphone. I tried to install the app on my privat iphone (same phone/same os version), but then I faced an issue. I couldn't enable the Calldirectory Extension with an error (Error Enabling Extension Failed to request data for APPNAME. You may try enabling the extension again, and if the problem persists, conatact the application developer.)

Core Data transformable attribute problem in Xcode16
Hi everyone, Have anybody faced with Core Data issues, trying to migrate the project to Xcode16 beta 4? We are using transformableAttributeType in some entities, with attributeValueClassName = "[String]" and valueTransformerName = "NSSecureUnarchiveFromData". It is working just fine for years, but now I am trying to run the project from Xcode16 and have 2 issues: in Xcode logs I see warning and error: CoreData: fault: Declared Objective-C type "[String]" for attribute named alertBarChannels is not valid CoreData: Declared Objective-C type "[String]" for attribute named alertBarChannels is not valid periodically the app crashes when we are assigning value to this attribute, with error: Terminating app due to uncaught exception 'NSInvalidArgumentException', reason: '-[__NSCFConstantString characterAtIndex:]: Range or index out of bounds' Once again, in Xcode 15 it works fine, and it was working for years. Cannot find any information about what was changed in the framework... Thank you in advance for any information, which could clarify what is going on.

Does Apple Screen Time API Allow Access to App Usage Data for Custom Rewards?
Hi everyone, I'm working on an app for parents and kids where parents can define screen time goals or restrict usage of certain app categories (like social media or games). If the kid follows those rules—for example, by using their device less or avoiding restricted categories—they would earn points or rewards in the app. I’ve been exploring if the Apple Screen Time API allows developers to access this kind of data (like total screen time, app usage by category, etc.) so that I can track the kid’s behavior and reward them accordingly. Is it possible to programmatically access this data and implement such a reward system within my app? If so, what’s the best way to get started or which APIs should I look into? Thanks in advance for your help!

Use cellular data on the app while connected to hardware's wifi that doesn't have internet connection
Hello, I am in a very similar situation as described in the thread: https://aninterestingwebsite.com/forums/thread/655183 Context: I am working on an app that receives data from a hardware device through its Wifi network, and the hardware is not connected to the internet. Now, I would need to call some API while still connected to hardware so I would need to use the cellular data. As mentioned on the thread, I can achieve this via Network framework, using the requiredInterfaceType property. But Is there any other way I can achieve this? I can also do some suggestion on the hardware if that's helpful. Thank you!

Using Cellular Data While Connected to Wifi
Hello, A quick background: I am developing an App that receives a data stream from a device through its Wi-Fi network. The device itself is not connected to the internet, so the app won't be either. Now, I am adding a new feature to the App that would require internet connection during the data stream. Consequently, my users would need to use their cellular data. On later versions of iPhone, the phone would occasionally detect the lack of internet connection and asks the user via a pop-up if they want to use their cellular data. However, this behavior is not consistent. So my question is- can we programmatically invoke this pop-up so the user can connect to the internet? Or even better- can we program the App to use cellular data while still being connected to a Wi-Fi network? Note: I have seen mixed answers on the internet whether this is doable or not, and I know that users are able do it themselves by manually configuring their IP in their WiFi settings page, but I doubt this operation can be done through the App for security reasons. Thanks!

Storing logs from application written in Swift visible on real device
I folks, I have an application that is already available in production and I would like to store some logs to the app, so that on real device I will see outputs for better tracing. iOS13 would be fine, but I can migrate it into e.g. iOS 14. The next question is where to find logs on real devices, so that users can send me for tracing. Thanks Petr

PushToTalk Microphone Permission Issues After Force Quit
Hello Apple Developer Community, We're implementing the PushToTalk framework as recommended. According to Apple engineers in previous forum responses : the framework allows your app to continue receiving push notifications even after your app is terminated or the device is rebooted. Implementation: We've properly implemented: Early initialization of PTChannelManager via channelManager(delegate:restorationDelegate:completionHandler:) Channel joining with requestJoinChannel(channelUUID:descriptor:) when foregrounded All required delegate methods Issue After a user force quits our app, PushToTalk functionality works briefly but fails after some time (minutes to hours). The system logs show: AudioSessionServerImpCommon.mm:105 { "action":"cm_session_begin_interruption", "error":"translating CM session error", "session":{"ID":"0x72289","name":"getcha(2958)"}, "details":{ "calling_line":997, "error_code":-12988, "error_string":"Missing entitlement" } } We suspect that entitlement after force-quitting the app, there's a permission cache that temporarily allows functionality, but once this cache is cleared, the features stop working. Without this entitlement, both audio playback and recording fail, completely breaking the PTT functionality. Questions Which specific entitlement is missing according to this error? Is there a permission caching mechanism that expires after force quit? How can we ensure reliable PTT operation after force quit as stated in documentation? This behavior contradicts Apple's guidance that PushToTalk should work reliably after termination. Any insights would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Push Notification Sound and Notification Service Extension When App is Killed
Dear Apple Developer Support, I am currently developing an iOS application that uses push notifications with custom .caf audio and a Notification Service Extension. I have implemented the extension to download and play a dynamic sound file from a remote sound_url. It works well when the app is in the foreground or background. However, when the app is force-closed (swiped up from multitasking), the Notification Service Extension does not seem to run. As a result, the custom sound is not downloaded or played. I would like to confirm: Is it possible to trigger the Notification Service Extension when the app is killed? If not, what is the correct way to play a custom .caf sound when the app is terminated? Should I preload and save the .caf file in App Group storage and reference it by name in the sound field? Are there any best practices or limitations regarding push notification customization when the app is killed? I appreciate your help in clarifying this issue. Thank you very much! Best regards, Phan Van Tung

Universal link doesn't work after install right away
Hi! We are having a hard time with the universal link, help is appreciated! Thanks in advance! The universal link doesn't work after installation for some time. A user has to wait for from 5 to a couple of hours after the app is installed on the device. This has also affected App reviewers since we need the universal link to work for successful login. Each submission will receive a rejection of we cannot login and it will be approved until we kindly ask them to try again. I believe the JSON is delivered to devices by Apple's CDN system and the fact that it works on most devices most of the time should imply that we have a valid apple-app-site-association setup. So I am really confused about the wait time, which is giving us trouble with app review and a bad user experience
