Twilio Voice iOS SDK: callInvite is missing when accepting incoming call from CallKit or React Native
I'm integrating Twilio Voice (v6.12.1) into my React Native app (using Swift bridging for iOS) and have implemented full VoIP, PushKit, and CallKit support for incoming calls. ✅ What works: Incoming calls trigger the VoIP push and display the full-screen CallKit interface (or fallback UI). Decline Call works as expected. Call logs and events print correctly. ❌ Problem: When I try to accept the call using the CallKit Accept button or React Native fallback UI, I consistently get: ❌ [TwilioVoiceModule] answerCall() callInvite is missing. I also noticed that the console logs for answerCall() are being printed three times in a row, even though the accept button is only pressed once. Additionally in the first time console, answerCall() CallInvite found, accepting... 🔍 Observations: The callInvite is properly received when the VoIP push arrives. But when answerCall() is triggered, callInvite becomes nil. This happens in CallKit accept, RN UI accept, and even notification banner accept. 📦 How it's set up (summarized): PushKit Registration – via PKPushRegistry in AppDelegate.swift VoIP push handling – forwards payload to TwilioVoiceModule.handleIncomingPush() CallKit integration – uses CXProviderDelegate to report and handle accept actions JS Bridge – emits acceptCallAction to JS React Native calls TwilioVoiceModule.answerCall(uuid, callSid) In answerCall() method: self.callInvite is nil – so call cannot be accepted. BadDeviceToken Error in Live Activities
Hello everyone, I’m currently receiving feedback from clients in a production environment who are encountering a BadDeviceToken error with Live Activities, which is preventing their states from updating. However, for other clients, the token is working fine and everything functions as expected. I’m collaborating with the back-end developers to gather more information about this issue, but the only log message we’re seeing is: Failed to send a push, APNS reported an error: BadDeviceToken I would greatly appreciate it if anyone could provide some insight or information on how to resolve this issue.

Reshield apps after certain time?
So I have been working with the screen time api. however I still cant get it to work to reshield certain apps after a certain time because for example Dispatch Queue just gets terminated after a certain time. This is my code right now but the reshielding doesn't get called. Provisioning Profile Missing Family Controls (Distribution) Entitlement Despite Approved App IDs
Hello, I’m running into an issue with the Family Controls (Distribution) entitlement not being included in my App Store Connect provisioning profiles. Here’s the situation: •Both my main app and its Screen Time extension have been approved for Family Controls (Distribution) In Certificates, Identifiers & Profiles → Identifiers, I can clearly see that the capability Family Controls (Distribution) is enabled for both App IDs. However, when I generate a new provisioning profile (either manually or via Xcode), the resulting .mobileprovision file’s Entitlements section does not include the Family Controls (Distribution) entitlement. As a result, building for distribution or archiving fails to recognize that entitlement, even though everything looks correct in the Developer Portal. But the missing entitlement persists. How can I successfully generate a distribution provisioning profile that includes Family Controls (Distribution)? Thanks in advance for any guidance — this seems like a subtle configuration issue, and I’d love to hear how to get over it. I can provide the Team ID and bundle ID upon request. STEPS TO REPRODUCE I’ve tried: •Regenerating both App IDs and provisioning profiles •Revoking and re-creating distribution certificates •Cleaning derived data and re-downloading profiles from Xcode Every time, creating a profile for App Store Connect will fail to include the capabilities the app has been approved for.

Applinks failing
Hello, We're facing an issue with app links failing and falling back to browser website journeys. Our apple-app-site-association file is hosted publicly and the app to app journeys have been working correctly up to very recently - we are trying to identify any potential network infra changes that could have impacted the Apple CDN being able to retrieve the apple-app-site-association file. We can see in the iPhone OS logs that the links cannot be verified by the swcd process, and using the app-site-association.cdn-apple.com/a/v1 api via curl can also see the CDN has no record of the AASA file. Due to the traffic being SSL and to a high volume enterprise site it is difficult for use to trace activity through anything other that the source IPs - we cannot filter on user-agent for "AASA-Bot/1.0.0" as breaking the SSL would be impactful due to the load. Is it possible to get a network range used by the Apple CDN to retrieve the AASA file as this would help us identify potential blocking behaviour? Thank you.

Device Activity monitor extension Not working

App-Site-Association file is wrongly cached
Hi Everyone, When we first hosted our apple-app-site-association file, our hosting provider was unintentionally blocking Apple’s crawler. As a result, Apple’s CDN seems to have cached a timeout / missing file response. We’ve since corrected the issue — the AASA file is now valid and accessible at: https://our-domain.com/.well-known/apple-app-site-association sidenote: I am using "our-domain" as an alias. It is not our actual domain. We have verified that we return a valid JSON, HTTPS 200, correct MIME type. We used apple recommended tools to check this as well as other tools we found on the internet. However, when fetching through the Apple CDN: https://app-site-association.cdn-apple.com/a/v1/our-domain.com we still receive: Apple-Failure-Reason: SWCERR00301 Timeout Apple-Failure-Details: {"cause":"context deadline exceeded (Client.Timeout exceeded while awaiting headers)"} This has persisted for several days. Tools like getuniversal.link and yURL show that the CDN works fine in U.S. regions, but in Europe it continues serving the old timeout response. I’ve already opened a support ticket (Case ID: 102734912696), but the current support channel seems to be general developer account assistance rather than technical. They claim they can only assist us with account related issues (even though I used the code-support form...) Can someone please advise or help us escalate this to the appropriate internal team to refresh the Apple CDN cache for our domain? Thank you so much for your time and help.

AlarmKit alarm does not fire when device is active
I implemented AlarmKit framework to my app. It works fine when the device's screen is off. but it doesn't fire when the screen is on. No sound, No dynamic Island widget. what's wrong... is this just me? I tried other apps on appstore and they worked fine. maybe is it cause they were built with SwiftUI? I'm a flutter developer. just cause my app is non native could this happen... I'm so frustrated.

How to get a phone into a state where it's possible to test text filtering?
I'm currently finding it impossible to get a text filtering extension to be invoked when there's an incoming text message. There isn't a problem with the app/extension because this is the same app and code that is already developed, tested, and unchanged since I last observed it working. I know if there's any history of the incoming number being "known" then the extension won't get invoked, and I used to find this no hindrance to testing previously provided that: the incoming number isn't in contacts there's no outgoing messages to that number there's no outgoing phone calls to the number. This always used to work in the past, but not anymore. However, I've ensured the incoming text's number isn't in contacts, in fact I've deleted all the contacts. I've deleted the entire phone history, incoming and outgoing, and I've also searched in messages and made sure there's no interactions with that number. There's logging in the extension so I can see its being invoked when turned on from the settings app, but its not getting invoked when there's a message. The one difference between now and when I used to have no problem with this - the phone now has iOS 18.5 on it. Its as if in iOS 18.5 there ever was any past association with a text number, its not impossible to remove that association. Has there been some known change in 18.5 that would affect this call filtering behavior and not being able to rid of the incoming message caller as being "known" to the phone? Update I completely reset the phone and then I was able to see the the message filter extension being invoked. That's not an ideal situation though. What else needs to be done beyond what I mentioned above in order to get a phone to forget about a message's number and thus get an message filtering extension to be invoked when there's a message from that number?

Do I need it for the extensions too? Because previously I had "Family Controls (Development)" for the extensions...

Share Extension not working on macOS Tahoe and Photos App
When my Share Extension receives an image from the macOS Photos app on Tahoe, the NSItemProvider passes a URL to an image file in a temporary location. All attempts to read that file fail silently, such as with NSImage(contentsOfFile) I can see that the file does exist in Finder. This code did work in previous macOS versions. It seems like a permissions issue, but startAccessingSecurityScopedResource had no effect. Other platforms work, other apps work, such as shares from Finder, which shares via data instead of a url. I'm really stuck. PSA: Call Screening breaks in a multitude of ways; no missed call notifications or badges; not lighting up screen; not visible when using focus;
Call Screening has serious issues right now leading to missing calls from genuine callers because the system does not acknowledge them with missed call notifications or badges in a lot of cases. I'm posting this in the hope of catching an engineer who can bring this to the attention of the teams working on this. Filed as FB20678829 — I ran the following tests with iOS 26.1 beta 3, but the issues have been occurring on iOS 26.0 as well. I used an iPhone, Apple Watch, iPad, and Mac for this. The iPhone has Call Screening enabled with the option „Ask Reason for Calling“ The iPhone has call forwarding enabled to all devices. Test 1: Active Focus Turn on a focus like Do not Disturb on all devices. Lock all devices. Make a phone call to the iPhone with an unknown number. Behavior: iPhone: displays Call Screening UI on the Lock Screen, but it will not light up the screen. You don’t know Call Screening is happening unless you activate the display just in that moment on devices without Always On Display. Watch: does nothing. Mac: does nothing. iPad: displays Call Screening UI on the Lock Screen, but it will not light up the screen. You don’t know Call Screening is happening unless you activate the display just in that moment. In this test the caller does not answer any of the Call Screening questions and just hangs up. The result is that only the Mac displays a missed call notification. iPhone, iPad, and Watch do not acknowledge the missed call (no phone app icon badge, no notification, no badge inside the Phone app itself), you can only see the call inside the Calls list when manually looking for it. Once the caller answered the Call Screening questions, the following happens: All devices ring like expected When the caller hangs up or I don’t answer: Mac: Shows Missed Call notification without details iPhone: Shows Missed Call notification with transcript of Call Screening (also badges phone app icon) iPad: does nothing. Watch: Shows the mirrored iPhone notification. Things to note: When turning off call forwarding on iPhone to other Apple devices like iPad and Mac, the phone app icon is always badged for missed calls when Call Screening was active, but no notification is displayed regardless.

iMessage functionality
Hey guys! I've recently noticed a number of PaaS'es and CPaaS'es offering bulk outgoing messaging using the iMessage the same way it's done with the SMS. I always thought that iMessage sort of only allowed businesses to send outgoings subject to user contacting their account first (to avoid being spammed). But then there's those I mentioned above. Have you faced anything like this? Did Apple make changes to the model so that businesses can now initiate conversations with users? If so, how does it work?

AlarmKit - Alarm triggers twice at 00:00 and second fullscreen alarm view becomes unresponsive
When an alarm is scheduled for 00:00, the system displays the fullscreen alarm interface twice. After the second fullscreen view appears, both the “Stop” and “Snooze” buttons become unresponsive, but using the physical button (volume or power button) can dismiss the alarm and correctly trigger the StopIntent. This behavior occurs consistently (100%), whether the system time is set normally or manually adjusted before the alarm triggers. A Summary of the WWDC25 Group Lab - watchOS (Part 1)
At WWDC25 we launched a new type of Lab event for the developer community - Group Labs. A Group Lab is a panel Q&A designed for a large audience of developers. Group Labs are a unique opportunity for the community to submit questions directly to a panel of Apple engineers and designers. Here are the highlights from the WWDC25 Group Lab for watchOS (part 1). 1. I'm really excited about the new design system on all platforms. Liquid Glass is super cool. What do developers need to keep in mind when building for watchOS 26? To adopt the new design system, start with updating your app for watchOS 10 – If you have done so, your app will be mostly ready for watchOS 26. For more information, see Design and build apps for WatchOS 10. You can then look into Liquid Glass specific APIs to fine tune your app. This topic is covered in Adopting Liquid Glass. If you have SwiftUI views using any custom style, make sure they are still legible and fit with the new design system. 2. Something that really stood out to me were updates to the Smart Stack, with the system prioritizing Widgets when they're most relevant. Tell me more about these new opportunities for apps. Workout apps that record workouts using HealthKit may be automatically suggested on the watch face and appear in the Smart Stack without adding a widget. Relevant widgets are a great way to present information related to a date, location, point-of-interest type, sleep schedule, or fitness condition in the Smart Stack when it is relevant. Relevant widgets don't need to display a empty state view when they are not relevant. They are only shown in the Smart Stack when relevant. The watchOS 26 Design ToolKit in the Apple Design Resources includes a set of templates that you can use to layout your widgets. 3. Is the Wrist Flick gesture available to developers in the same way as Double Tap is? The system uses Wrist Flick to dismiss notifications and incoming calls, silence timers and alarms, or return to the watch face. There is no separate API for the Wrist Flick gesture. Apps that are using XCUIAutomation to make sure their user interface behaves as intended can use the XCUIDeviceHandGesture.flick to automate tests that verify that their app responds appropriately to the Wrist Flick gesture. For apps using automated testing, the XCUIDeviceHandGesture.doubleTap can be also be used to automate testing of the app with the Double Tap gesture. See XCUIDevice.perform(handGesture:) 4. Can HRV measurements be triggered on demand via API in watchOS? Guidelines or processes for enabling energy-intensive biometric sampling on development devices for IRB-approved research? You don’t have direct control on the sampling rate in watchOS. You can use HealthKit (HKQuantityTypeIdentifierHeartRateVariabilitySDNN, to be specific) to query the HRV data, once the system has sampled and persisted the data to HealthKit. If that doesn’t help, we suggest that you file a feedback report with your concrete use case for us to investigate. Specific to IRB-approved research using Apple Watch or its companion iPhone, you might want to look at this FAQ and SensorKit to see if they can be of any help. 5. What is the best advice for someone who is new to making a watchOS app that’s been on iOS and iPadOS? You can start with exploring the system experience features on watchOS, such as notifications, controls, and widgets, and getting familiar with the system spaces, like Smart Stack, watch face, and control center. Knowing the watchOS app design principles and practices is important as well. Design and build apps for WatchOS 10 is a great resource for this topic. SwiftUI is an amazing across-platform framework, and you will use it to create your watchOS app. If you're already using it, great! Keep in mind some watch-only constraints. Comparing to iPhone or iPad, Apple Watch has a limited battery and smaller screen size, which significantly impacts how people use your app and how your app works. 6. Was there any extension this year to the 7 day limit on querying Apple Health data on the watch? There is no change on the limit this year. You can get this official limit at runtime using earliestPermittedSampleDate. There are some exceptions, and so don't be surprised if you see some data types are retained longer. The companion iPhone holds the full set of the health data. If you need to access the health data that has been purged from the Apple Watch, consider doing it with your iOS app, and then passing the result to your watchOS app.

Screen Time differences between DeviceActivityMonitor and times shown in DeviceActivityReport
I am still struggling to nail down the screen time between monitoring and showing it in a DeviceActivityReport. It's always off by a couple of percentage points, which results in a difference of a couple of minutes between the time shown for my total screen time in DeviceActivityReport and DeviceActivityMonitor with a threshold set for all apps/websites/categories. In the report, I am looping through all segment (there is only 1 segement using .daily segment interval for a given day) then loop through all categories and all apps within each category and sum up all totalActivityDuration for each app. Based on avaiable documentation, that should corrolate to DeviceActivityMonitor threshold but it doesn't. Are there any differences in how these 2 places count screen time? Are there any apps/core ios services which are excluded from DeviceActivityMonitor. Would appreciate any help at all, I'm losing my mind here. My current suspicion is that Apple Developer documentation is counted twice. i.e. this website https://aninterestingwebsite.com/documentation/deviceactivity/deviceactivitymonitor shows up in usage as an App with bundleId of apple.developer.wwdc-release and time spent there is counted twice, against this bundleId AND Safari. I don't know why it's not counted as a webdomain.

Twilio Voice iOS SDK: callInvite is missing when accepting incoming call from CallKit or React Native
I'm integrating Twilio Voice (v6.12.1) into my React Native app (using Swift bridging for iOS) and have implemented full VoIP, PushKit, and CallKit support for incoming calls. ✅ What works: Incoming calls trigger the VoIP push and display the full-screen CallKit interface (or fallback UI). Decline Call works as expected. Call logs and events print correctly. ❌ Problem: When I try to accept the call using the CallKit Accept button or React Native fallback UI, I consistently get: ❌ [TwilioVoiceModule] answerCall() callInvite is missing. I also noticed that the console logs for answerCall() are being printed three times in a row, even though the accept button is only pressed once. Additionally in the first time console, answerCall() CallInvite found, accepting... 🔍 Observations: The callInvite is properly received when the VoIP push arrives. But when answerCall() is triggered, callInvite becomes nil. This happens in CallKit accept, RN UI accept, and even notification banner accept. 📦 How it's set up (summarized): PushKit Registration – via PKPushRegistry in AppDelegate.swift VoIP push handling – forwards payload to TwilioVoiceModule.handleIncomingPush() CallKit integration – uses CXProviderDelegate to report and handle accept actions JS Bridge – emits acceptCallAction to JS React Native calls TwilioVoiceModule.answerCall(uuid, callSid) In answerCall() method: self.callInvite is nil – so call cannot be accepted. BadDeviceToken Error in Live Activities
Hello everyone, I’m currently receiving feedback from clients in a production environment who are encountering a BadDeviceToken error with Live Activities, which is preventing their states from updating. However, for other clients, the token is working fine and everything functions as expected. Reshield apps after certain time?
So I have been working with the screen time api. however I still cant get it to work to reshield certain apps after a certain time because for example Dispatch Queue just gets terminated after a certain time. This is my code right now but the reshielding doesn't get called. Provisioning Profile Missing Family Controls (Distribution) Entitlement Despite Approved App IDs
Hello, I’m running into an issue with the Family Controls (Distribution) entitlement not being included in my App Store Connect provisioning profiles. Here’s the situation: •Both my main app and its Screen Time extension have been approved for Family Controls (Distribution) In Certificates, Identifiers & Profiles → Identifiers, I can clearly see that the capability Family Controls (Distribution) is enabled for both App IDs. However, when I generate a new provisioning profile (either manually or via Xcode), the resulting .mobileprovision file’s Entitlements section does not include the Family Controls (Distribution) entitlement. As a result, building for distribution or archiving fails to recognize that entitlement, even though everything looks correct in the Developer Portal. But the missing entitlement persists. How can I successfully generate a distribution provisioning profile that includes Family Controls (Distribution)? Thanks in advance for any guidance — this seems like a subtle configuration issue, and I’d love to hear how to get over it. I can provide the Team ID and bundle ID upon request. STEPS TO REPRODUCE I’ve tried: •Regenerating both App IDs and provisioning profiles •Revoking and re-creating distribution certificates •Cleaning derived data and re-downloading profiles from Xcode Every time, creating a profile for App Store Connect will fail to include the capabilities the app has been approved for.

Applinks failing
Hello, We're facing an issue with app links failing and falling back to browser website journeys. Our apple-app-site-association file is hosted publicly and the app to app journeys have been working correctly up to very recently - we are trying to identify any potential network infra changes that could have impacted the Apple CDN being able to retrieve the apple-app-site-association file. We can see in the iPhone OS logs that the links cannot be verified by the swcd process, and using the app-site-association.cdn-apple.com/a/v1 api via curl can also see the CDN has no record of the AASA file. Due to the traffic being SSL and to a high volume enterprise site it is difficult for use to trace activity through anything other that the source IPs - we cannot filter on user-agent for "AASA-Bot/1.0.0" as breaking the SSL would be impactful due to the load. Is it possible to get a network range used by the Apple CDN to retrieve the AASA file as this would help us identify potential blocking behaviour? Thank you.

App-Site-Association file is wrongly cached
Hi Everyone, When we first hosted our apple-app-site-association file, our hosting provider was unintentionally blocking Apple’s crawler. As a result, Apple’s CDN seems to have cached a timeout / missing file response. We’ve since corrected the issue — the AASA file is now valid and accessible at: https://our-domain.com/.well-known/apple-app-site-association sidenote: I am using "our-domain" as an alias. It is not our actual domain. We have verified that we return a valid JSON, HTTPS 200, correct MIME type. We used apple recommended tools to check this as well as other tools we found on the internet. However, when fetching through the Apple CDN: https://app-site-association.cdn-apple.com/a/v1/our-domain.com we still receive: Apple-Failure-Reason: SWCERR00301 Timeout Apple-Failure-Details: {"cause":"context deadline exceeded (Client.Timeout exceeded while awaiting headers)"} This has persisted for several days. Tools like getuniversal.link and yURL show that the CDN works fine in U.S. regions, but in Europe it continues serving the old timeout response. I’ve already opened a support ticket (Case ID: 102734912696), but the current support channel seems to be general developer account assistance rather than technical. They claim they can only assist us with account related issues (even though I used the code-support form...) Can someone please advise or help us escalate this to the appropriate internal team to refresh the Apple CDN cache for our domain? Thank you so much for your time and help.

AlarmKit alarm does not fire when device is active
I implemented AlarmKit framework to my app. It works fine when the device's screen is off. but it doesn't fire when the screen is on. No sound, No dynamic Island widget. what's wrong... is this just me? I tried other apps on appstore and they worked fine. maybe is it cause they were built with SwiftUI? I'm a flutter developer. just cause my app is non native could this happen... I'm so frustrated.

How to get a phone into a state where it's possible to test text filtering?
I'm currently finding it impossible to get a text filtering extension to be invoked when there's an incoming text message. There isn't a problem with the app/extension because this is the same app and code that is already developed, tested, and unchanged since I last observed it working. I know if there's any history of the incoming number being "known" then the extension won't get invoked, and I used to find this no hindrance to testing previously provided that: the incoming number isn't in contacts there's no outgoing messages to that number there's no outgoing phone calls to the number. This always used to work in the past, but not anymore. However, I've ensured the incoming text's number isn't in contacts, in fact I've deleted all the contacts. I've deleted the entire phone history, incoming and outgoing, and I've also searched in messages and made sure there's no interactions with that number. There's logging in the extension so I can see its being invoked when turned on from the settings app, but its not getting invoked when there's a message. The one difference between now and when I used to have no problem with this - the phone now has iOS 18.5 on it. Its as if in iOS 18.5 there ever was any past association with a text number, its not impossible to remove that association. Has there been some known change in 18.5 that would affect this call filtering behavior and not being able to rid of the incoming message caller as being "known" to the phone? Update I completely reset the phone and then I was able to see the the message filter extension being invoked. That's not an ideal situation though. What else needs to be done beyond what I mentioned above in order to get a phone to forget about a message's number and thus get an message filtering extension to be invoked when there's a message from that number?

Share Extension not working on macOS Tahoe and Photos App
When my Share Extension receives an image from the macOS Photos app on Tahoe, the NSItemProvider passes a URL to an image file in a temporary location. All attempts to read that file fail silently, such as with NSImage(contentsOfFile) I can see that the file does exist in Finder. This code did work in previous macOS versions. It seems like a permissions issue, but startAccessingSecurityScopedResource had no effect. Other platforms work, other apps work, such as shares from Finder, which shares via data instead of a url. I'm really stuck. PSA: Call Screening breaks in a multitude of ways; no missed call notifications or badges; not lighting up screen; not visible when using focus;
Call Screening has serious issues right now leading to missing calls from genuine callers because the system does not acknowledge them with missed call notifications or badges in a lot of cases. I'm posting this in the hope of catching an engineer who can bring this to the attention of the teams working on this. Filed as FB20678829 — I ran the following tests with iOS 26.1 beta 3, but the issues have been occurring on iOS 26.0 as well. I used an iPhone, Apple Watch, iPad, and Mac for this. The iPhone has Call Screening enabled with the option „Ask Reason for Calling“ The iPhone has call forwarding enabled to all devices. Test 1: Active Focus Turn on a focus like Do not Disturb on all devices. Lock all devices. Make a phone call to the iPhone with an unknown number. Behavior: iPhone: displays Call Screening UI on the Lock Screen, but it will not light up the screen. You don’t know Call Screening is happening unless you activate the display just in that moment on devices without Always On Display. Watch: does nothing. Mac: does nothing. iPad: displays Call Screening UI on the Lock Screen, but it will not light up the screen. You don’t know Call Screening is happening unless you activate the display just in that moment. In this test the caller does not answer any of the Call Screening questions and just hangs up. The result is that only the Mac displays a missed call notification. iPhone, iPad, and Watch do not acknowledge the missed call (no phone app icon badge, no notification, no badge inside the Phone app itself), you can only see the call inside the Calls list when manually looking for it. Once the caller answered the Call Screening questions, the following happens: All devices ring like expected When the caller hangs up or I don’t answer: Mac: Shows Missed Call notification without details iPhone: Shows Missed Call notification with transcript of Call Screening (also badges phone app icon) iPad: does nothing. Watch: Shows the mirrored iPhone notification. Things to note: When turning off call forwarding on iPhone to other Apple devices like iPad and Mac, the phone app icon is always badged for missed calls when Call Screening was active, but no notification is displayed regardless.

Hey guys! I've recently noticed a number of PaaS'es and CPaaS'es offering bulk outgoing messaging using the iMessage the same way it's done with the SMS. I always thought that iMessage sort of only allowed businesses to send outgoings subject to user contacting their account first (to avoid being spammed). But then there's those I mentioned above. Have you faced anything like this? Did Apple make changes to the model so that businesses can now initiate conversations with users? If so, how does it work?

AlarmKit - Alarm triggers twice at 00:00 and second fullscreen alarm view becomes unresponsive
When an alarm is scheduled for 00:00, the system displays the fullscreen alarm interface twice. After the second fullscreen view appears, both the “Stop” and “Snooze” buttons become unresponsive, but using the physical button (volume or power button) can dismiss the alarm and correctly trigger the StopIntent. This behavior occurs consistently (100%), whether the system time is set normally or manually adjusted before the alarm triggers. Here are the highlights from the WWDC25 Group Lab for watchOS (part 1). 1. I'm really excited about the new design system on all platforms. Liquid Glass is super cool. What do developers need to keep in mind when building for watchOS 26? To adopt the new design system, start with updating your app for watchOS 10 – If you have done so, your app will be mostly ready for watchOS 26. For more information, see Design and build apps for WatchOS 10. You can then look into Liquid Glass specific APIs to fine tune your app. This topic is covered in Adopting Liquid Glass. If you have SwiftUI views using any custom style, make sure they are still legible and fit with the new design system. 2. Something that really stood out to me were updates to the Smart Stack, with the system prioritizing Widgets when they're most relevant. Tell me more about these new opportunities for apps. Workout apps that record workouts using HealthKit may be automatically suggested on the watch face and appear in the Smart Stack without adding a widget. Relevant widgets are a great way to present information related to a date, location, point-of-interest type, sleep schedule, or fitness condition in the Smart Stack when it is relevant. Relevant widgets don't need to display a empty state view when they are not relevant. They are only shown in the Smart Stack when relevant. The watchOS 26 Design ToolKit in the Apple Design Resources includes a set of templates that you can use to layout your widgets. 3. Is the Wrist Flick gesture available to developers in the same way as Double Tap is? The system uses Wrist Flick to dismiss notifications and incoming calls, silence timers and alarms, or return to the watch face. There is no separate API for the Wrist Flick gesture. Apps that are using XCUIAutomation to make sure their user interface behaves as intended can use the XCUIDeviceHandGesture.flick to automate tests that verify that their app responds appropriately to the Wrist Flick gesture. For apps using automated testing, the XCUIDeviceHandGesture.doubleTap can be also be used to automate testing of the app with the Double Tap gesture. See XCUIDevice.perform(handGesture:) 4. Can HRV measurements be triggered on demand via API in watchOS? Guidelines or processes for enabling energy-intensive biometric sampling on development devices for IRB-approved research? You don’t have direct control on the sampling rate in watchOS. You can use HealthKit (HKQuantityTypeIdentifierHeartRateVariabilitySDNN, to be specific) to query the HRV data, once the system has sampled and persisted the data to HealthKit. If that doesn’t help, we suggest that you file a feedback report with your concrete use case for us to investigate. Specific to IRB-approved research using Apple Watch or its companion iPhone, you might want to look at this FAQ and SensorKit to see if they can be of any help. 5. What is the best advice for someone who is new to making a watchOS app that’s been on iOS and iPadOS? You can start with exploring the system experience features on watchOS, such as notifications, controls, and widgets, and getting familiar with the system spaces, like Smart Stack, watch face, and control center. Knowing the watchOS app design principles and practices is important as well. Design and build apps for WatchOS 10 is a great resource for this topic. SwiftUI is an amazing across-platform framework, and you will use it to create your watchOS app. If you're already using it, great! Keep in mind some watch-only constraints. Comparing to iPhone or iPad, Apple Watch has a limited battery and smaller screen size, which significantly impacts how people use your app and how your app works. 6. Was there any extension this year to the 7 day limit on querying Apple Health data on the watch? There is no change on the limit this year. You can get this official limit at runtime using earliestPermittedSampleDate. There are some exceptions, and so don't be surprised if you see some data types are retained longer. The companion iPhone holds the full set of the health data. If you need to access the health data that has been purged from the Apple Watch, consider doing it with your iOS app, and then passing the result to your watchOS app.

Screen Time differences between DeviceActivityMonitor and times shown in DeviceActivityReport
I am still struggling to nail down the screen time between monitoring and showing it in a DeviceActivityReport. It's always off by a couple of percentage points, which results in a difference of a couple of minutes between the time shown for my total screen time in DeviceActivityReport and DeviceActivityMonitor with a threshold set for all apps/websites/categories. In the report, I am looping through all segment (there is only 1 segement using .daily segment interval for a given day) then loop through all categories and all apps within each category and sum up all totalActivityDuration for each app. Based on avaiable documentation, that should corrolate to DeviceActivityMonitor threshold but it doesn't. Are there any differences in how these 2 places count screen time? Are there any apps/core ios services which are excluded from DeviceActivityMonitor. Would appreciate any help at all, I'm losing my mind here. My current suspicion is that Apple Developer documentation is counted twice. i.e. this website https://aninterestingwebsite.com/documentation/deviceactivity/deviceactivitymonitor shows up in usage as an App with bundleId of apple.developer.wwdc-release and time spent there is counted twice, against this bundleId AND Safari. I don't know why it's not counted as a webdomain.
