Gathering Required Information for Troubleshooting Apple Pay In-App Provisioning or In-App Verification Issues
Hi, You're here because you've had issues with your implementation of In-App Provisioning Extensions for Apple Pay In-App Provisioning or In-App Verification. To prevent sending sensitive credentials in plain text, create a new report in Feedback Assistant to share the details requested below with the appropriate log profiles installed. Gathering Required Information for Troubleshooting Apple Pay In-App Provisioning or In-App Verification Issues While troubleshooting Apple Pay In-App Provisioning or In-App Verification, it is essential that the issuer is able to collect logs on their device and check those logs for error message. This is also essential when reporting issues to Apple. To gather the required data for your own debugging as well as reporting issues, please perform the following steps on the test device: Install the Apple Pay and Wallet profiles on your iOS or watchOS device. If the issue occurs on Mac, continue to Step 2. Reproduce the issue and make a note of the timestamp when the issue occurred, while optionally capturing screenshots or video. Gather a sysdiagnose on the same iOS or watchOS device, or on macOS. Create a Feedback Assistant report with the following information: The bundle IDs App bundle ID Non-UI app extension bundle ID (if applicable) UI app extension bundle ID (if applicable) The serial number of the device. For iOS and watchOS: Open Settings > General > About > Serial Number (tap and hold to copy). For macOS: Open the Apple () menu > About This Mac > Serial Number. The SEID (Secure Element Identifier) of the device, represented as a HEX encoded string. For iOS and watchOS: Open Settings > General > About > SEID (tap and hold to copy). For macOS: Open the Apple () menu > About This Mac > System Report > NVMExpress > Serial Number. The sysdiagnose gathered after reproducing the issue. The timestamp (including timezone) of when the issue was reproduced. The type of provisioning failure (e.g., error at Terms & Conditions, error when adding a card, etc.) The issuer/network/country of the provisioned card (e.g., Mastercard – US) Last 4 digits of the FPAN Last 4 digits of the DPAN (if available) Was this test initiated from the Issuer App? (e.g., yes or no) The type of environment (e.g., sandbox or production) Screenshots or videos of errors and unexpected behaviors (optional). Important: From the logs gathered above, you should be able to determine the cause of the failure from PassbookUIService, PassKit or PassKitCore, and by filtering for your SEID or bundle ID of your app or app extensions in the Console app. Submitting your feedback Before you submit to Feedback Assistant, please confirm the requested information above is included in your feedback. Failure to provide the requested information will only delay my investigation into the reported issue within your Apple Pay client. After your submission to Feedback Assistant is complete, please respond in your existing Developer Forums post with the Feedback ID. Once received, I can begin my investigation and determine if this issue is caused by an error within your client, a configuration issue within your developer account, or an underlying system bug. Integrating Apple Pay into an HTML inline frame (iframe) on your website
iOS 16 and earlier On iOS 16 and earlier, Apple Pay on the Web required Safari—and all interactions with the Apple Pay API to come from the parent/top level page. In order to facilitate the Apple Pay button in an HTML inline frame (iframe), there will need to be cross frame communication between the child and parent pages. Cross frame communication should be secure and robust, therefore the use of postMessage for this purpose is recommended. The expectation is for all communication with Apple Pay to occur from the parent page, so the iframe must relay all Apple Pay related events to the parent to handle. Some examples: Apple Pay availability: The parent calls applePayCapabilities, then sends the message of the response to the iframe, which then uses the value to toggle the visibility of the Apple Pay button. Apple Pay session: The iframe receives an onclick() event when the Apple Pay button is clicked and sends the message to the parent (providing details about the transaction). The parent create the payment request to obtain the session validation URL, and eventually receive session credentials and invokes completeMerchantValidation() to prevent the payment sheet. After the payment is authorized by the Payment Service Provider (PSP), the parent either: Redirects the parent page to a payment success page; or Sends a message to the iframe to complete the transaction flow itself. iOS 17 and later On IOS 17 and later, the iframe HTML element should include the allow="payment" attribute, which should facilitate the cross frame communications instead of needing a dedicated JavaScript library. This means all of the Apple Pay code/calls can reside in the iframe page—which is typically a hosted page from a Payment Service Provider (PSP), all the parent page—typically a merchant—has to do is add the attribute mentioned above to the iframe element. Important: Regardless of the iOS version, the PSP/merchant always needs to make sure the parent page domain is the one registered in the Developer portal, and used in the request to generate a merchant session via ApplePaySession. When using Promotional Offers to upgrade a subscription, a prompt appears indicating an expiration date for upgrading.
Two subscriptions, Plus and Max, are under the same subscription group, with Max having a higher tier than Plus. Promotional Offers for Max are configured in Apple Store Connect. When a user subscribes to Plus and then upgrades to Max using Promotional Offers, they are prompted with "Upgrade upon expiration" (Figure 1); if they don't use Promotional Offers, they are prompted to "Upgrade immediately" (Figure 2). Question 1: What is the situation with the "upgrade upon expiration" message in Figure 1? Is upgrading using Promotional Offers special? I couldn't find any relevant explanation in Apple's technical documentation. Question 2: Figure 1 shows an "upgrade upon expiration," but after subscribing, the webhook still shows the subscription start time as the current time, meaning the upgrade hasn't started immediately. Is the message incorrect?

Scan Code like QR to pay by Apple Pay
During checkout at apple.com using a non-supported Apple Pay on the Web browser, apple.com presents a QR like code offering to "Scan Code with iPhone" to pay. The payment continues using Apple Pay on the iPhone after scan. We already offer Apple Pay and Apple Pay on the Web. Is this QR code option available for us for non-supported browsers? Could you point me to the docs to add it? Thank you.

ApplePay: Flexible payments/scheduling
On Applepay's docs it talks about the ability to do "flexible" payments and scheduling for future purchases. We need to be able to make only a single approval of an Apple payment for multiple submissions later on. Think, deferred payments at an arbitrary schedule without presenting the ApplePay dialog each and every time. The docs suggest that may be possible, but are maddeningly vague on how to do that. Is it possible or not? Can we store an approved merchant's token for example and leverage that for future transactions?

iPhone iWatch sending ATQB response during ECP polling causing detection of collision
Hi Support, When the applepay express transit option is used on emv payment cards, like this iPhone - Open “Settings” → “Wallet & Apple Pay” → “Express Transit Card”. And a emv single card has been enabled under Express Transit And on transit reader Apple Enhanced contactless Polling support is provided, ( with VAS not supported, user authentciation not supported) Sometimes ATQB response also comes from the iPhone or iWatch instead of the ATQA response, and then it causes the transit reader to report as collision error in the polling. Inquiry about apple-developer-merchantid-domain-association.txt Security and Access
I have a question regarding the file apple-developer-merchantid-domain-association.txt. I understand that this file is used during API access for Apple Pay Web payments. However, is it necessary for our company to access this file during the payment process? Also, this domain validation file is expected to be placed in the publicly accessible “.well-known” folder on our web server. Is it acceptable for this file to remain readable by third parties on the Internet, including Apple’s servers, without posing any security risks? Since this file is generated during domain registration on the Apple Developer site and is unique to our domain, we believe there should be no security concerns even if accessed by third parties. However, are there any specific security requirements for this domain validation file? Please note that the domain validation has already been successfully completed. We appreciate your time and look forward to your guidance. Best regards,

Apple Pay Signature Validation Fails
I'm currently integrating Apple Pay with my payment provider, and I'm encountering a signature validation error during the payment flow. Here's the setup: I’ve verified that my Merchant Certificate is valid, and I'm able to initialize the Apple Pay session without any issues. Also this curl works fine The Payment Processing Certificate was created by my PSP. PSP claims that the payment token signature is invalid during the transaction phase, which prevents payment completion. The parsed signature starts like this 0:d=0 hl=2 l=inf cons: SEQUENCE 2:d=1 hl=2 l= 9 prim: OBJECT :pkcs7-signedData 13:d=1 hl=2 l=inf cons: cont [ 0 ] 15:d=2 hl=2 l=inf cons: SEQUENCE 17:d=3 hl=2 l= 1 prim: INTEGER :01 20:d=3 hl=2 l= 13 cons: SET 22:d=4 hl=2 l= 11 cons: SEQUENCE 24:d=5 hl=2 l= 9 prim: OBJECT :sha256 35:d=3 hl=2 l=inf cons: SEQUENCE 37:d=4 hl=2 l= 9 prim: OBJECT :pkcs7-data 48:d=4 hl=2 l= 0 prim: EOC 50:d=3 hl=2 l=inf cons: cont [ 0 ] 52:d=4 hl=4 l= 995 cons: SEQUENCE 56:d=5 hl=4 l= 904 cons: SEQUENCE 60:d=6 hl=2 l= 3 cons: cont [ 0 ] 62:d=7 hl=2 l= 1 prim: INTEGER :02 65:d=6 hl=2 l= 8 prim: INTEGER :16634C8B0E305717 75:d=6 hl=2 l= 10 cons: SEQUENCE 77:d=7 hl=2 l= 8 prim: OBJECT :ecdsa-with-SHA256 87:d=6 hl=2 l= 122 cons: SEQUENCE 89:d=7 hl=2 l= 46 cons: SET 91:d=8 hl=2 l= 44 cons: SEQUENCE 93:d=9 hl=2 l= 3 prim: OBJECT :commonName 98:d=9 hl=2 l= 37 prim: UTF8STRING :Apple Application Integration CA - G3 I'm looking for guidance on what could be causing this signature failure. Does anyone know what else I can check regarding the merchant or payment processing certificates, private keys, or key usage that might cause Apple Pay signature validation to fail, even if the session initializes successfully? Domains are also verified. Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Adding a previous card to Apple Wallet and Express Travel Enabled
We are working with a large fintech org on project connected with provisioning payment cards to Apple Wallet. When we add a previously provisioned card to the Wallet (using the Wallet UI, Add card -> Previous card). It adds the card on one device showing the Express Travel card screen after the card is added allowing the user to set the card as an express travel card during the provisioning flow but never on our other devices. All of the test devices are clean and have only the same single card provisioned. What triggers the Express Travel Card screen to be shown during the add previous card flow? (Why is it showing on one device and not another).

Apple Pay on the Web for Insurance Renewals
Our company sells insurance and we'd like to offer annual renewals via Apple Pay on the Web. Most of the docs seem to point towards using recurringpaymentrequest but this method required an amount value which would only be calculated at renewal time. It appears that Shopify is doing something akin to what we want where they do auto payments so my question is can we do annual payments with unknown renewal prices with Apple Pay for Web ? What we cannot do is show the renewal price like this as it being insurance is almost certain to change. This is our current code which works but won't get past the regulator. const applePayPaymentRequestAnnual = { countryCode: 'GB', currencyCode: 'GBP', supportedNetworks: ['visa', 'masterCard'], merchantCapabilities: ['supports3DS'], requiredBillingContactFields: ['postalAddress', 'email'], requiredShippingContactFields: ['phone'], recurringPaymentRequest: { paymentDescription: 'Annual Insurance Renewal', regularBilling: { label: 'Annual Renewal Premium', amount: price, paymentTiming: "recurring", recurringPaymentIntervalUnit: "year", recurringPaymentStartDate: year + "-" + month + "-" + day + "T00:00:00.000Z", type: 'final' }, managementURL: window.location.protocol + '//' + window.location.host + '/manage-policy', tokenNotificationURL: window.location.protocol + '//' + window.location.host + '/apple-pay-notifications' }, lineItems: [{ label: alabel, amount: price, }], total: { label: alabel, amount: price, type: "final" }, }

Unable to Provision Payment pass to Apple Wallet via Wallet Extensions.
We are working with two types of wallet passes. Provisioning works successfully for one pass type via wallet extensions, but the same process is not functioning for the other. For the second pass type, we are able to generate the required data for pull provisioning and send it to Apple. Additionally, in-app push provisioning for this pass type completes without issue. We would appreciate guidance on how to further debug and resolve this provisioning problem.

Apple pay closes silently
During our Apple Pay integration testing, we encountered an issue that we're unsure how to resolve. Below are the steps we followed: Created an Apple Pay sandbox test account for Raul and added a test card, following the documentation here: https://aninterestingwebsite.com/apple-pay/sandbox-testing/ Opened the Golfmanager platform and initiated a booking. For payment, selected Apple Pay as the method. Raul clicked the Apple Pay button on the Golfmanager UI. He scanned the QR code using his iPhone, logged in with the test account. Apple Pay began validating our merchant identity and retrieved the wallet token to proceed with payment. The Apple Pay payment sheet appeared on Raul's iPhone, showing the card details and the amount requested by Golfmanager. Suddenly, the Apple Pay sheet closed unexpectedly, and we have no insight into what went wrong or what might be missing on our end. Here is the video: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1r-73edQ9eBZzXi6HoSYYGjKO8LbxBrZi/view?usp=drive_web

Merchant domain verification
Hello, I'm experiencing an irregular issue with Apple Pay merchant domain verification. As you know, Apple requires domain verification every two months to maintain Apple Pay functionality. The problem is that while the verification sometimes happens automatically without any issues, other times it fails to complete, even though the required file "apple-developer-merchantid-domain-association.txt" is correctly available on our server. When automatic verification fails, the Apple Pay service becomes non-functional on our website, forcing us to perform a manual verification to restore the pending service. Is it normal to encounter such inconsistent automatic verification processes? What could be causing these intermittent verification failures, whereas manual verification always succeed? suggesting this might not be related to IP address restrictions described on the Apple documentation. Thank you in advance,

Apple Wallet not showing correct amounts for grocery delivery platform
We are observing unexpected behavior in Apple Wallet for transactions processed via an online delivery platform. Here is the specific flow: Initial Authorization: The original order was placed for $22.30. Order Amendment: The user added an item 10 minutes later for $6.20, bringing the total to $28.50. The Issue: Apple Wallet only displays the $6.20 transaction. The initial $22.30 amount is not visible in the transaction list. Technical Verification: We confirmed that both backend authorization messages for the original amount and the add-on were approved. We verified that the final settlement amounts correctly reflect the sum of both charges ($28.50). We have confirmed the transaction lifecycle completed successfully on our end. Despite this, the customer only sees the $6.20 entry in their Wallet history, which creates confusion as it doesn't reflect the total spent. Has anyone encountered this sync issue between settlement totals and Wallet display, or is there a specific way we should be linking these related authorizations? Thanks!

How to get MPAN (when supported)?
My understanding is that MPAN is provided for any of the payment request types that support the tokenNotificationURL (deferred/recurring). If you omit the tokenNotificationURL from the request do you still get an MPAN (when supported by the banking network)? Or is it only if that property has a value? Is there a different way you are supposed to trigger an MPAN?

Apple pay as a payment method is not working when using Adyen PSP
Hi, For one of my projects, I am using the Web Drop-in component of Adyen PSP on a Salesforce B2B Commerce site. One of the payment methods is Apple Pay. The payment method is rendered, but the Apple Pay button is not clickable. We tried debugging it but could not identify the root cause. Could you advise how this issue can be fixed? Thanks

Apple Pay Web integration
To perform the integration, it must be done under the same domain that has been validated. Is it not possible to do it in a local environment? Could that be the reason why I can't display the button or complete the validation with the API?

iPhone iWatch sending ATQB response during ECP polling causing detection of collision
Sequence of the packets: WUPA WUPB ECP frame WUPA WUPB ATQB WUPA ATQA

Our company sells insurance and we'd like to offer annual renewals via Apple Pay on the Web. Most of the docs seem to point towards using recurringpaymentrequest but this method required an amount value which would only be calculated at renewal time. It appears that Shopify is doing something akin to what we want where they do auto payments so my question is can we do annual payments with unknown renewal prices with Apple Pay for Web ? What we cannot do is show the renewal price like this as it being insurance is almost certain to change. This is our current code which works but won't get past the regulator. const applePayPaymentRequestAnnual = { countryCode: 'GB', currencyCode: 'GBP', supportedNetworks: ['visa', 'masterCard'], merchantCapabilities: ['supports3DS'], requiredBillingContactFields: ['postalAddress', 'email'], requiredShippingContactFields: ['phone'], recurringPaymentRequest: { paymentDescription: 'Annual Insurance Renewal', regularBilling: { label: 'Annual Renewal Premium', amount: price, paymentTiming: "recurring", recurringPaymentIntervalUnit: "year", recurringPaymentStartDate: year + "-" + month + "-" + day + "T00:00:00.000Z", type: 'final' }, managementURL: window.location.protocol + '//' + window.location.host + '/manage-policy', tokenNotificationURL: window.location.protocol + '//' + window.location.host + '/apple-pay-notifications' }, lineItems: [{ label: alabel, amount: price, }], total: { label: alabel, amount: price, type: "final" }, }

Thanks!

The order details does not list me as the merchant name and instead uses some other name which I do not recognize
Hi, I am the developer of this app and I was shared this receipt which strangely does not list my name as the merchant but instead says "The flow network" as you can see below: What is going on?

How to get MPAN (when supported)?
My understanding is that MPAN is provided for any of the payment request types that support the tokenNotificationURL (deferred/recurring). If you omit the tokenNotificationURL from the request do you still get an MPAN (when supported by the banking network)? Or is it only if that property has a value? Is there a different way you are supposed to trigger an MPAN?
