Determining which Apple Pay token is completing activation when issuer app is launched from Wallet
Hi, we are implementing ID&V and there is a requirement regarding the flow for Apple Pay. In order to clarify the case I will describe the use case scenario or steps to reproduce first: add a card to the iPhone wallet app (yellow path verification required). Do not complete the ID&V process. add a card to the Watch via the Wallet inside the iPhone Watch app (yellow path verification required). Same as before, do not complete the ID&V complete ID&V process using the Issuer App either from iPhone or Watch. the Issuer app receives the application:openURL:options: callback on its AppDelegate. In the options dictionary, we can not see the UIApplicationOpenURLOptionsSourceApplicationKey populated (it is nil). At this moment, for the card we are adding there are now two tokens, both to be verified via ID&V process. One is on the iPhone and one is on the Apple Watch associated with the same iPhone. The url received at step 4 contains the serial number which identifies the digitized card and matches with both the tokens in the iPhone and in the Apple Watch. We need something to detect programmatically if the digitization process started from the iPhone Wallet app or from the wallet inside the Watch app. Could you please help us to identify how we could discriminate if the ID&V process has been started for the iPhone token or for the Apple Watch token? Thanks

The possibility of certificates renewal on "master account" without creating new merchant identity certificate and key stores.
Hello! We use Apple's "master account" scheme to register new clients trough API due to the fact that the number of merchant IDs in a developer account cannot exceed 100 records. It's been almost a year since we successfully used the master account ( ex. "merchant.com.xxx") and register clients via Postman. At the moment, the certificates for the master merchant ID start to expire on July 11 which will affect all customers which is under Master ID. We know that when updating certificates at the identifier level(our master id), new universal identity certificate files that we use to send to the merchants (merchant_id.pem, privkey.key) will be generated for authentication on the merchant side, as well as a new keystore. Since many of our clients are integrated with current files and keystores and have live traffic, we would like to know—is it possible to update certificates on the master account without changing the keystores and certificate identities? The impossibility of this will entail a large gap when switching to new certificates. Thanks in advance for your answer.

Domain verification
Hello! We are using "Apple Pay Web Merchant Registration API" https://aninterestingwebsite.com/documentation/applepaywebmerchantregistrationapi Recently we successfully updated the Payment/identity certificates at our main merchant ID And we have a few questions: Do we need make the Domain verification for all of our sub-merchants again after the Certificates update? How we can check the expiration of domain verification of merchants that we integrate trough API endpoint (https://apple-pay-gateway.apple.com/paymentservices/registerMerchant), and do verified domains via API have an expiration date??? How we can understand does the our universal domain verification file (apple-developer-merchantid-domain-association) have expiration too? Thanks in advance!

iOS subscription: First purchase never triggers server notifications for a new Subscription Group
Hello, I’m experiencing a strange issue with a newly created Subscription Group in my iOS app. For all my existing subscription groups, everything works perfectly — initial purchase, renewals, cancellations, all notifications arrive normally. But for this one newly created group, the first purchase never triggers any server notification from App Store Server Notifications (ASSN). ⸻ 📘 Problem Summary • I created a new Subscription Group in App Store Connect. • The products are all Approved and Published for over a week. • Users can successfully purchase the subscription in production. • The purchase is shown as Purchased in the App Store purchase UI. • The receipt can be fetched locally on device. • But my server receives no notifications, including: • DID_RENEW • DID_CHANGE_RENEWAL_STATUS • SUBSCRIBED • ONE_TIME_CHARGE • CONSUMPTION_REQUEST • etc. The old subscription groups still send notifications normally, so the notification URL and server infrastructure are correct.

Apple Pay In-App Provisioning – Apple server failure when adding a card
We are implementing Apple Pay In-App Provisioning in our issuer iOS application and are encountering a HTTP 500 error returned from Apple servers during the provisioning flow. The issue occurs after generating the encrypted payload and attempting to complete the provisioning process. The Apple service responds with 500 Internal Server Error, preventing the card from being added to Wallet. We would appreciate assistance identifying whether this is caused by: • a payload formatting issue, • cryptographic material mismatch, • entitlement / configuration issue, • or a server-side issue. Environment Platform • iOS: 26.3.1 • Device: iPhone 13 mini • Xcode: 26.3.1 Apple Pay configuration • In-App Provisioning entitlement enabled • Issuer app authorized by Apple for provisioning • Payment Network: Mastercard • Token Service Provider (TSP): MDES Testing environment • Production • App distribution method: TestFlight Provisioning Flow Overview Our implementation follows the standard Apple Pay In-App Provisioning flow: 1. User taps Add to Apple Wallet in issuer app. 2. App presents PKAddPaymentPassViewController. 3. App receives: • Apple public certificates • nonce • nonceSignature 4. Issuer backend generates: • encryptedPassData • activationData • ephemeralPublicKey 5. These values are returned to the app. 6. App constructs PKAddPaymentPassRequest. 7. Wallet attempts provisioning. At this point the request fails and Apple servers return HTTP 500. We see this in the system console, with the phone having Wallet debugging profile installed. Checklist – Common Issues Verified Based on the Apple Pay In-App Provisioning demo guidance, we verified the following configuration items. Entitlements • com.apple.developer.payment-pass-provisioning enabled • Apple Pay capability enabled in Xcode • Correct Team ID and bundle configuration App configuration • PKAddPaymentPassViewController used for provisioning • PKAddPaymentPassViewControllerDelegate implemented • generateRequestWithCertificateChain implemented correctly Cryptographic data • encryptedPassData • activationData • ephemeralPublicKey All values are generated by our issuer backend and returned to the app Feedback ID: FB22249031 (In app provisioning error 500)

Issue with Top-Up Flow on iPhone 14 Pro Max (iOS 18.6.2) in TestFlight
Hi Apple Team and Developers, I’ve been testing the Top-up flow in our app via the TestFlight environment. Across multiple devices (around 10 tested), everything works fine with no issues. However, on one specific device — iPhone 14 Pro Max running iOS 18.6.2 — I’ve noticed an intermittent issue: When performing a Top-up, the Apple UI first shows a successful purchase confirmation. Immediately afterward, another UI prompt appears asking the player to re-enter their Apple ID password. At the same time, Apple returns a ghost string that we cannot use to verify the user’s package bundle ID. This creates potential confusion for users, as they see both a success confirmation and an unexpected password prompt. I’m unsure if this behavior is expected or if there’s a recommended way to handle or prevent this issue. Has anyone else encountered something similar, or does Apple have a suggested fix/workaround for this? For reference, here’s a short video of the issue in action: \🔗 https://drive.google.com/file/d/1Ml-QpEu4ocoxn-W3wEMsFMbXy2QdwbHB/view?usp=sharing Any guidance would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for your support!

Unable to Complete In-App Provisioning – Error 40456 on enable Endpoint
Hello, I am developing an Apple Pay and In-App Provisioning integration for the bank where I work. All entitlements are properly configured, and we are integrated correctly with our Payment Network Operator (PNO). We are using PKAddPaymentPassViewControllerDelegate to handle the provisioning process. The flow progresses as expected up to the Terms and Conditions screen. However, after accepting the terms, the process fails with the message: "Could not add card." Upon checking the device logs using the Wallet profile configuration, I observed the following response from Apple's backend: Response: https://nc-pod10-smp-device.apple.com:443/broker/v4/devices/041315032816900221610987313158566F368A9CEBA1291E/cards/745f792b9d0644e5a6e713d54f505296/enable 500 Time profile: 1.80458 seconds { x-conversation-id = "6ec59a63424f4035915e32f22ea645e4" Vary = "accept-language" Content-Type = "application/json" x-pod = "nc-pod10" x-keystone-correlationid = "E3DD5A5A-FD18-4500-8570-2BD1334E281C" Date = "Thu, 17 Apr 2025 07:05:03 GMT" x-apay-service-response-details = "via_upstream" Content-Length = "49" x-envoy-upstream-service-time = "964" x-pod-region = "paymentpass.com.apple" } { errorCode = 40456; statusCode = 500; } This seems to indicate that the card enablement step is failing on the server side. Our internal systems have not logged any request failure from Apple at this step, which makes it difficult to pinpoint whether the issue is in the PNO integration, entitlement configuration, or something else. We are currently testing in a production environment on a physical device (not using sandbox), and provisioning flows are initiated through our iOS app using PKAddPaymentPassRequest. Could you please help us interpret error code 40456 and identify what steps we should take to resolve this issue? If needed, we can also provide the full device log and additional details. Thank you in advance for your support. Best regards, Mansur Bagwan

Apple Pay Merchant Identity Certificate - renewal problems
We are having trouble trying to renew our Apple Pay Merchant Identity Certificate. We can create the CSR file and add to the developer portal. We then convert this to a .pem and then a .p12. When we test the certificate in Postman however, we see the following error: "statusMessage": "Payment Services Exception pspId=xxxx unauthorized to process transactions on behalf of merchantId=xxxx reason=xxxx is not a registered merchant in WWDR and isn't properly authorized via Mass Enablement, either.", "statusCode": "417" We are sending the following POST request to 'https://apple-pay-gateway.apple.com/paymentservices/paymentSession': {"merchantIdentifier": "merchant.com.xxxx.applepaytest", "domainName": "beta-xxxx.com", "displayName": "beta-xxxx.com"} Anyone got any ideas what the issue may be? In the meantime I will look at completing our domain verification as that is also due soon and we thought it may possibly have something to do with the certificate issues we are seeing.

Why is the Apple Wallet Url Verification different between the ios18 and ios26
Basic information: The issuer has implemented the feature to active Apple Card via URL Verification. The feature implemented by issuer is supported both in the APP and Clips. When Apple queries the activation method from UnionPay, UnionPay returns the "URL" activation method to Apple. Additionally, the apple-app-site-association file has been correctly deployed, and the configuration for Universal Links has been completed. Both the APP and Clips have undergone testing for Universal Link calls. The desired experiece is that when the APP is installed, Apple Wallet launches the APP, and the user completes the activation within the APP, and if the APP is not installed, Apple Wallet calls Clips, and the user completes the activation in Clips. Problem description: Under iOS 17 and iOS 18, when triggering Apple Pay card activation, the APP or Clips can be called as expected, and the activation can be completed well. However, Under iOS 26, regardless of whether the APP is installed, under the same circumstances, an internal browser within Apple Wallet opens to access the H5 page corresponding to the URL, instead of redirecting to the APP or Clips. Please assist in confirming whether this is a new feature of iOS 26 and how the same user experience can be achieved.

Apple Pay Test cards not added to Wallet
For Apple Pay testing, I have tried the following: Sign into the Sandbox Account via Developer Settings: Settings > Developer > Sandbox Account Keep your main Apple ID for everything else Add Test Cards to Wallet: Try adding the test card numbers (MasterCard and Visa Debit, as we support only those) Apple provides in their documentation. Unfortunately, none of them are added to the wallet. All the time it gives 'Could Not Add Card'. I tried on devices with iOS 18+. Can anyone advise on this? Thanks

Apple Pay In-App Provisioning Development extended entitlement unable to select on create Provisioning Profile
We request your support in enabling the extended entitlement feature for our team when creating provisioning profiles. This is because we need to include the ApplePay In-App Provisioning Development extended entitlement in our Bancoagricola app. Currently, when creating new provisioning profiles, the screen to configure Additional Entitlements is not displayed for our team. However, we have verified with our provider HST (https://hst.com.br/) that this screen does appear in their Apple account. Thank you very much for your support.

Payment Services Exception Unauthorized
We’re attempting to call the Apple Pay Web Merchant Registration API using our Platform Integrator flow and consistently receive 401 Unauthorized, despite successful TLS/mTLS. Details: Endpoint: https://apple-pay-gateway-cert.apple.com/paymentservices/registerMerchant (POST) Payload: { "domainNames": ["breakerfy.com"], "encryptTo": "platformintegrator.ai.packman", "partnerInternalMerchantIdentifier": "merchant.ai.packman.1", "partnerMerchantName": "breakerfy", "merchantUrl": "https://breakerfy.com" } Domain association: URL: https://breakerfy.com/.well-known/apple-developer-merchantid-domain-association What we tried: We created a Payment Platform Integrator ID (platformintegrator.ai.packman) We created a CertificateSigningRequest We used the certificate signing request to create an Apple Pay Platform Integrator Identity Certificate and downloaded the signed certificate. We exported the Private Key from keychain access in PKCS 12 format We converted both the private key and the signed certificate to PEM format We created a merchant id We used the converted keys to send requests to the API We received { "statusMessage": "Payment Services Exception Unauthorized", "statusCode": "401" } we also tried curl with the original p12 file and also had no luck. What could be the issue ?

Apple Pay Merchant Token on Web
Hello. I have a few questions about the implementation of Apple Pay payments on websites. Could you help me From the documentation: Apple Pay issues an Apple Pay Merchant Token if the user’s payment network supports merchant-specific payment tokens. Otherwise, Apple Pay issues a device token for the payment request. How can we determine whether a token is a merchant token or a device token? Is it possible to determine this by any of the token fields? https://aninterestingwebsite.com/documentation/passkit/payment-token-format-reference Is it possible to understand this in other ways? Can I make recurring payments with the device token if it was issued instead of the merchant token? Is it necessary to include the tokenNotificationURL when generating a merchant token, or can we generate one without specifying it? What does the applicationExpirationDate field in the merchant token represent? Is this the date when the device token or merchant token expires and payments cannot be made with it?
